My wife and I were visiting the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, and since we are elderly and not wanting to travel home, some distance, on a dark night, decided to stay at the nearby Mercure Hotel. This turned out to be a rewarding decision as the hotel is a first class establishment. We were very impressed with every aspect. The attention to detail from the moment we arrived at reception to the time when we left was without fault. Our room was standard but large, bathroom immaculate with all facilities. Breakfast offered a wide choice and in particular there was a superb variety of fresh fruit. The whole experience was enjoyable and though we only stayed for one night we assessed it as a mini holiday. We have been encouraged to go again to one of the Sheffield theatres and certainly stay at the nearby Mercure Hotel and avoid the late night drive home.

We booked 2 nights so that we could check out late evening - we were then disturbed by your staff knocking on the door & then ringing the phone between 12 and 1pm the next day which woke us both up after a really late night out..it was really annoying as we paid for privacy and we didn’t get it and that was the bit that really upset us the most. We’ve stayed at the hotel once before so it was exactly as expected apart from the annoying intrusion!! I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world in such circumstances they would simply put a note under the door..

Was very clean and staff were lovely, just one little thing the shower kept going hot and cold all the time so had to shower in the spa, but apart from that we are coming again soon

Downstairs looks fabulous - competely false impression, the rooms however were like those of a tired old traveller's inn. Dirty floors, TV that didn't work, one biscuit with tea and coffee, no free drinks - especially given the cost of the sweet

Spa facilities were a little run down compared to last visit

We had a fun visit, hotel itself was lovely and bed very comfortable but the Spa side let the experience down greatly. Both the Spa and changing facilities were run down compared to our last visit. Pool was cold unlike last time in 2018. Changing rooms were very worn down and the lockers could have done with a little love. The Spa facilities- cold room was not working and the general area was messy and covered in towels left behind. Hotel itself was lovely appart form a chair that broke when I had my laptop on it... luckily it wasnt a person. On closer observation it had been put back together and was clearly broken already. Customer service was great at checkin up althought there was little information on arrival regarding the Spa facilities so we firstly had to find them and got lost in the hotel going up and down the lifts. Then after walking down lots of stairs we found there was a code on the door of the Spa facilities... we then had to walk back multiple flights of stairs back to the Spa reception, there we found we needed to register to go in but we could have been told this at reception on check in.

We stayed for one night. The room was nice just a few small issues. The tv did not work and the temperature of the water from the taps in the bath didn’t go above warm. We paid £5 to rent bath robes and they were really uncomfortable and frayed, one even had a hole in it.

Staff on arrival helpful and polite. Disappointed with condition of room, while clean the fridge and safe were not working correctly. A staff member reset the safe but it still did not work. In addition, not enough toiletries included. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety and helpful staff. Could be even better by being asked by staff if any further drinks are required. Pool and thermal suite was very good and enjoyable.

We had an absolutely lovely time staying here and using the spa. The pool is lovely and the spa treatments were first class, hosted by welcoming and professional staff who worked hard to put us at ease. The room was spotlessly clean and well provisioned, although a stocked mini-bar would have been appreciated. Breakfast in the glass room next to the winter gardens was a real treat and felt quite other-worldly, and the breakfast itself was outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a weekend get-away here.

Having stayed on a previous occasion which I was very pleased with, I was hopeing this stay would be a good, I wasnt dissapointed. The staff on the reception were very helpful and pleasant on my arrival the bar staff were excellent. The room was great and cleaned each day to a very high standard. I used the spa on this stay and would like to say how great the young lady who have me a massage was excellent 10 out of 10, will be back.

Pleasant but frustrating!

The hotel is lovely, our room was spacious and very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. However, at 1am on the sunday, the occupants of room 124 (We were 126) returned and were really loud, woke us up. They stayed chatting outside for ages, 3 women and 1 male. It seems he wasn't a guest but they invited him in. I looked out the door peep hole as they were making so much noise. They went in their room finally and carried on being loud. I fell asleep eventually and was woken up again at half 2am hearing loud noises, swearing and it sounded like an argument I rang reception at this point and they said they would send someone up. I looked out the door peep hole and saw a member of staff stand outside, but as it was then quiet, he left. The noise stopped. I know hotels can't control how their guests behave, but it's really frustrating when you have booked a night away to get some quiet time and good sleep away from children and your hotel night is ruined and your sleep is disturbed. Very disappointing and would make me rethink staying overnight again.

We were in room 120, first night very quite but second night room 122 became very noisy there were a lot of people staying in room coming and going banging the room door. Thus went on all night. They had food then Left the plates outside our room.

Fantastic stay in what is , in my opinion, the 'best' hotel in Sheffield. Great staff, Sandeep and Gaia and Prez on front desk, Owan in breakfast and the bar made our stay absolutely superb. Michelle also provides excellent help and srvice on the corporate side. They make you feel at home and welcomed. The hotel is a great place to stay, for business or pleasure and I really enjoy staying here. This is what service should be!
