Horrifying Experience at the reception

My husband and I reached this hotel at around 5 am in the morning after a long journey from abroad . We had hotel vouchers which showed we have fully paid for the planned stay and this was sent to us by the travel agent . When we reached there two men Omar and Mishal at the hotel reception told us that we didn’t have any booking and were completely dismissive of the hotel vouchers which were fully paid . Mishal said that I can get a room for 2000 Riyal for a night and if we would prefer a double bed or a single bed. He also said after 9 am reservation team will look at my booking . In the meantime if I needed room then I should pay 2000 Riyal which was non refundable. I found this totally fishy , conning , unbelievable behaviour and completely rejected the offer. I am a well travelled professional person .I have travelled almost all over the world. MashaAllah this was my 5th Umrah visit . Never ever I have experienced such an atrocious behaviour from hotel Reception ever in my life . I contacted my travel agent and was informed by my travel agent that the hotel reception men misbehaved with them as well . I just wanted to get out of that hotel and pleased to say Travel agent arranged a better hotel .. I sincerely pray no one experiences what I went through at the hotel reception . This service doesn’t even deserve one star but there is no options for 0 star.

Right, to start we were given our swipe entry cards and we checked in and headed to the mosque for prayers. I returned before my wife with shopping in one hand and my daughter in the other. I couldn’t get into the room and had to wait for my wife. Her card worked fine. We went down to reception and the lady told us not to keep card near wallet/other payment cards or mobile devices as the interference has caused it to stop working. Really appalling excuse! How can a 5* hotel use this excuse, I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels of the years without experiencing such a problem. Even a 3* hotel doesn’t say such a thing. Anyway your staff gave us two new cards and they worked. Few hours later I tried my card again and it stopped working again. Really really annoyed at this point as I’m now going to have to go down to reception to get this sorted again. Twice within 24 hours of my stay. To add to this, they told me I got an ‘upgraded room’ to my surprise, it seems like a downgrade. The windows open (surprisingly) but there’s nothing to look at, there’s a stone brick wall behind the window so because of this no daylight enters the room at all. Besides the room lighting which I say is awful it’s almost darkness in the room all day long. This last issue, so far (day 2/4 of sleeping here) I have just noticed we don’t have a King bed as was stated when I booked this room. Instead the hotel has joint two single beds together and two mattresses. This is ridiculous. My two year old is sleeping with us on this bed as you didn’t even offer us a baby cot and she’s been complaining of being hurt but I didn’t realise why. When she said and pointed to the bed I felt a dip and realised there’s two beds joint together. Here’s picture attached. I have paid a lot of money to stay here for 4 days. For my daughter to end up with back pain and a service where I’m constantly having to nag reception and waste time on my trip to get into my room. Please be cautious when booking your stay here.

The hotel is in poor condition. Rooms are cramped and neat significant update. Things are broken in the room and toilets were also in need of upgrade. The only thing that works for the hotel is the close proximity to the mosque. The weight staff in general are great. Our weed staff for breakfast Mr.Rubel was particularly great. Overall, I will be looking further options next time when we visit.

I had a very bad experience at this hotel The best thing about it is that it’s very close to haram but we took a room with 300 USD per night and it was not renovated There was a bug on the wall, whenever I try to reach the reception they don’t answer No room service, I will never go there again This money can make you stay in a way better hotels

The hotel probably at one time was five star. At present time it is at best a two star hotel. It needs severe renovation. The rooms were cramped. The refrigerator was dirty and things were broken in the room. Bathrooms are small and although were clean, did not look up-to-date. Two things that go for the hotel include number one its location, which is close to the women’s gate to the mosque. It is so close that you can attend the prayer at the mosque when you hear the Azan. The second thing that is good is the wait staff. The breakfast is great, and the staff are eager to help. In particular, our waiter was Rubel, we looked for him everyday. He provided personalized service and made up for other aspects of the hotel. I will look for other options next time.
