Nice hotel for relaxing at the beach and diving

Transfer from Marsa Alam airport to the hotel as previously booked. Warm welcome in the Hotel. Superior Rooms are spacious and very clean. Relatively new bathrooms with shower. Very nice and friendly staff. Nice beach and dive center, located directly next to the hotel. top of the rock bar is a absolute highlight. Generally said, the whole site is very nice and clean. The distances between main building and the rooms are not too long. In contrary, it requires a little walk after laying on the beach ;-) Buffet was rich and fine, with all risks and disadvantages of a buffet... Every gusto can find anything to eat, no one stays hungry. We ate in the menagerie and only took advantage of the offer to dine in Al Fresco. Was nice, but very windy as we stayed there early January. We had Apero and digestifs in Sirena Bar, which is a little small, but the staff is extra. Friendly, helpful and always very attentive. Unfortunately there was no Campari available.... Superb entertainment with Ibrahim, both on Thursday in the Sirena Bar and Sunday at the beach. High quality and speed WLAN coverage all over the Hotel and it's beach, even in the dive center is astonishing. Well run dive center and its restaurant is a meeting point for all interested in the underwater world. It covers dives at the house reef as well as excursions by zodiac, speedboat and even bus to dive spots abroad. Unfortunately the end of this stay was not as funny and nice as the vacation itself. I can understand that the dive center, run by Extra Divers, does not accept all credit cards. But when I try to pay during checkout (by the way, why do I have to do that when my credit card is registered in my Accor Hotel profile?) and I cannot use my AmexCo card, I simply do not understand. By the way I covered the reservation with this card and it is also registered in my Accor profile, As today many other benefits as e. g. insurances are linked to credit cards this is simply not acceptable. I'm sure the staff at the reception did it's best, but it obviously didn't work. This is a no go and was very hard to be accepted. Next point is a problem with the digestion of the two of us (and our daughter staying in another room as well). A medical investigation back in Switzerland showed an infection with coli bacteria. As we never left the hotel (Except for dinner in fishermans hut) the source has to be there. In case also other guests report such a infection we recommend to investigate. Please also note that in Switzerland Coli bacteria infections have to be reported to Swiss health department, what has been done by our doctor.

We agree with you that Ibrahim not only has a great voice, he can also create a great atmosphere among the guests, and managed to make everyone enjoy or even dance. It is true that the payment by Amex credit card did not work the day you wanted to pay, this has to do with Amex, also you can only pay with EGP through Amex not with any other currency. We are sorry that this caused you inconvenience. We are very sorry to read that you and your family had to receive medical treatment for stomach problems. This is certainly not an experience we would wish on anyone, including ourselves who eat and drink at the hotel on a daily basis. Rest assured that we take this information very seriously and have already initiated an investigation into the possible causes of your report. It is true that every year the number of guests with gastrointestinal complaints is increasing in all hot countries. This phenomenon can have many different reasons, such as heat, cold drinks and unusual spices or foods. For this reason, we always closely monitor the number of current cases in the hotel and have contingency plans ready in case this number exceeds normal. During your stay, no stomach complaint was reported by any guest. In addition, we would like to point out that if there were a truly general problem with our food and beverage service, the number of guests affected would be very large, which would result in immediate intervention by local health authorities. This has not happened. We also routinely have samples of our food and all water supplies tested for bacteriological traces. All analytical results we received from samples submitted during your stay showed no trace of contamination. Finally, in order to guarantee a high level of hygiene in our food and beverage operations, our hotel collaborates with the external auditing company SGS, according to the International HACCP standards. The results of these regular audits prove our commitment to food and beverage hygiene. Of course, we will not disagree with the diagnosis of your doctor in Switzerland. However, we would have preferred if you had contacted us directly and assisted us with the investigation. Some very important questions remain unanswered. In which restaurant did you have your meals? When did the stomach complaints start? Did you always eat your food right away or possibly expose it to high temperatures for a long time? Did you eat any foods that seemed suspicious? Did you consume food or drink outside the hotel (perhaps while driving to the hotel or at the airport)? We would be grateful if you could contact us at re… to better understand these details. Once again, we would like to express our deepest regret for the inconvenience caused by this stomach complaint and credit card payment, and hope that we have been able to clarify that this is really not a general problem with our services. We needed a hotel for a short winter family holiday that would meet the needs of three generations aged 1-70 years. We loved our stay because there was something for everyone- sun, sand, pools, beach, eating, diving, snorkelling and a choice of other activities. The week was perfect.
