Upon check in the receptionist was brisk, short & not entirely welcoming. The room we were allocated had an extremely old mattress with collapsed springs & both my husband and I woke up with extremely sore backs. When we spoke to reception (same individual) the next morning we were dismissed and told there was no mattress toppers available. After another 2 sleepless nights and sore backs we again approached reception (after we checked to ensure that there was another more approachable staff member on reception) & were offered a room change - not ideal as we then had to move all our belongings. The new room was much nicer and had a more updated bed. Upon our checkout we handed our key into reception with the initial receptionist again manning the front desk. She took our key and said thanks! No enquiry about our stay, or if there was any maintenance issues required in the room or even if we'd like to look at rebooking!!! Subsequently we have rebooked elsewhere after 7 years at this resort.

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the way you felt you were treated at reception. A warm, welcoming and attentive approach is the standard we expect at all times, and I’m sorry this was not your experience on arrival, during your concerns about the mattress, or at departure. I am also very sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced with the mattress and that your initial concerns were not handled with the urgency and care they deserved. While I’m pleased a room change was eventually arranged and that the second room was more suitable, I completely understand that having to move mid-stay is far from ideal and certainly not the experience we want for our returning guests. I can see that you have actually secured a booking with us for next year, which we truly appreciate. Given your recent decision to rebook elsewhere, are you intending to still keep your booking with us for next year? We would really value the opportunity to speak with you personally before then. Your long-standing support means a great deal to us, and I would love the chance to restore your confidence in the resort. Frequent guests. Understand apartments individually owned but there should be some consistency in letting pool ('lucky dip' in kichen appliances each stay). A few issues this stay: 1. Ant infestation in kitchen. No food left out. Was attanded to promptly. 2. The TV Chromecasting system has not worked on recent stays with multiple error messages. 3. Seals of fridge and washing/machine dryer were looking tired and soiled. 4. Irrespective of Accor tier, staff will not allocate even range of floors for 'executive' 2BR apt even 72 hours before stay. 5. Reception staff are helpful and friendly, but high rotation with some unfamiliar with property. With over 10 stays at this property over years noted slow decline in overall experience. Time for a review, particularly given premium rental rates and expanding choice. Despite this, have already booked next stay later in year. The Sirocco is still friendly and familiar venue.

While our apartments are individually owned, you’re absolutely right that there should be stronger consistency in standards. I’m pleased the ant issue was resolved promptly, though it shouldn’t have occurred. We’ll also continue focusing on team training to ensure consistency despite staff changes. We were given Room 406 and were extremely disappointed, nothing at all like any photos on the website, very outdated and very dark so we got changed to Room 1006 which was fabulous The staff were brilliant about it
