Hotel is very nice, surroounding well maintained. We enjoyed our kayaking soo relaxing w hile your in the middle of the lake. We enjoy our swimming and eating Pizza and drinking in the bar pool while waiting for the sunset and is so great. The hotel staff are all friendly and the room is clean! Defenitely we will comeback here and recommend to my friend and family.0

Yes, I would like to share my experience. I made a reservation to stay at the Novotel Sunshine Coast from 5th April until the 10th 5 nights in total. This booking was made weeks ago, I paid almost $3400 for two double rooms with lagoon view. When we arrived at approximately 9pm on 5th April we were told by reception that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to a suite. (we were given rooms 182 and 184) I initially took this as a bonus and was quite pleased. It wasn't until we arrived in the rooms that we noticed there was only one double bed and a sofa bed I had booked and arranged for two double beds as I did not intend on having anyone sleep on a sofa bed. I contacted reception and they advised me that the rooms I had booked and paid for weeks ago were no longer available. So, as you can understand, I don't appreciate being told that I'm getting an upgrade when in fact my original choice of rooms was no longer available. I was also told unfortunately there was nothing they could do that night and they would have to try and do something the next day. That night we attempted to open the sofa bed only to discover that it was actually broken not all feet touched the ground when in the open position so it was almost like a seesaw affect. I have taken photos and a video to prove this. It could not be used to sleep on. In addition to this, the room was extremely dirty in fact both rooms were very dirty, the smell of mould or mildew was unbearable. Everything in that room was damp including a large patch of water on the carpet, there were bugs everywhere, spiderwebs everywhere, ants everywhere and even spiderwebs inside the cutlery drawer. I cannot begin to tell you how disgusted and disappointed I was when checking into these rooms and the embarrassment as I had convinced another family to join us on this trip. The following morning I approached reception and spoke to whom I believe was the hotel manager. He advised that there was nothing they could do as far as move another double bed into our room but I only had the option to take a double room gardenview if I wanted a double room. This was not an option for me because I specifically paid extra for lagoon view and this was not our fault. The manager even apologised for us not being contacted prior to checking in about the room change. The managers solution to this problem was that he offered us room 183 and a $100 room credit. When room 183 was ready we were notified and picked up a key, upon entering this room the smell was even worse than the smell in room 182 and 184. The cleanliness of the room was atrocious, I could not believe the amount of dirt, spiderwebs and bugs that were everywhere. I contacted reception and asked if we could at least have some sort of room spray as it was even difficult to breathe in this room. It took eight hours to get room spray. At this point I had resigned to the fact that there was no point complaining any further as nothing was going to get done. I only had five days to enjoy and I did not want to spend it arguing with reception. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am, nothing like this has ever happened in over 30 years of me booking hotels, resorts or any sort of accommodation. To spend almost $3400 dollars for five nights and then be forced to stay in such appalling conditions is beyond my imagination. To say that I am disappointed and regretful would be an understatement. I understand the manager tried to help us by offering us another room and $100 credit but by no means did this make the situation any better for us. At this stage I am contemplating on whether I need to take this further and I'm hoping that I receive a favourable outcome by reaching out with this feedback. Thank you.

Novotel is in a great location close to the beach. The facilities were amazing, lots of options with pool, hot spa, kayaks and a day spa for some extra pampering. Dinner was an absolute highlight. The steak and lamb rack was cooked to perfection. Delicious!

We had a great stay but we didn’t understand why you need a security guard in the pool area all day. He wasn’t a nice person and made are stay not that enjoyable because we found he picked on our group of people all the time. We actually watched him pick on everyone. So many people had a good at him because he didn’t have any people skills. I think he actually thought he was a cop

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and professional, the food was great, dinner was a little expensive. The pool was advertised as heated but was very cold, manly children playing and the tiles around the pool was dangerous, my daughter injured her knee getting out of the spa (very sharp exit) . Saying that I would stay again, hopefully the pool will be heated.

Great hotel after renovation, but it’s a shame we can’t have dining discounts during our stay because it’s P/H and have to pay 15% surcharge. What’s the benefit of Accor member ?! The it was raining when we checked in at 2pm, so the water activities were not all going fir the afternoon and we didn’t been offer late check out! So we stay from 2pm to 10am the next day, less than 24hrs! Not money worth!

Stayed over Easter long weekend with 3 other families. Unfortunately the weather was showers, the pool was too cold to swim in and the hot tub/spa is so small and always full of kids! We did however love using the kayaks and the catamarans.

Have stayed approximately 12 times over 12 years. We book online and through the hotel direct. No prior problems. During this stay my daughter was being bitten in room 175. Rang housekeeping, they said problem must be due to midgies. I advised housekeeping that door to balcony has not been opened, asked if they could look into this. Didn't hear back, my daughter continued to be bitten. Visited G.P, my daughter had lines of bites under clothing. G.P advised likely flea bites. Explained to reception and they offered to move us from room 175 to room 265. Room 175 was checked by pest control the following day, report back that the problem must be mosquitoes as there were mosquitoes present in room. Hotel staff were pleasant enough but it didn't feel like they believed us or were particularly concerned. The next day my daughter had post bite complications, took to second G.P. for second opinion, same diagnosis, purchased prescription medication. Other minor problems: - room maintenance: phone in 265 not working, TV in 265 replaced twice as not working properly - maintenance support staff were helpful - have had better service at food and beverage outlets on previous stays, can understand there may be some changes/inexperienced staff due to COVID-19 situation - charged for food and beverage $290.45 twice on check out but I can see this has now been rectified, thank you.

Ideal location, perfect weather, perfect spot- the ideal family holiday and it didn’t disappoint. Five things that made it- the bungalow, the food, comfy bed, water sports and most importantly the friendly staff. Bartender Justin was faultless and so were the housekeeping team.

I was very disappointed with the whole experience, from check in to the run down facilities and unfriendly staff. That said there was one staff member that went over and beyond. He worked on the bar in your new upgraded outdoor area. He was young, tall , skinny with brown hair.

We stayed in an overwater bungalow - which has new furniture and decor. The outlook was lovely, however the deckign adjoing the water showed signs of signficant rot. The airconditioning unit requires replacement as the room was hot and uncomfortable at all times. There was also a cockroach problem. We sighted 5-6 cockroaches during our 2 day stay walking around the floors and walls. Lastly, The television movie system was not working - i have to check whether we were charged for the package - however we couldn't even watch 10 minutes of any of the movies before it froze and rest to the main screen

The only down side being the weather we enjoyed our stay. The only negative maybe is the Buffett seafood dinner very pricey for a large family.and cockroaches in our suite.

Lack of care and service

Plastic plants at entry to the restaraunt, limited selection of cocktails, zero selection of mocktails, zero rotation of breakfast buffet options. The bacon was virtually uncooked 5 out of out 7 day stay and the fruit salad tubs were the same every day - watermelon, honeydew, rockmelon, pineapple & grape. Honeydew and rockmelon were unripe daily which indicates whoever is selecting the fruit is inexperienced. A selection of berries should be incorporated. Pancakes could be added to the menu for the children. The food down the road at the small cafe near the golf club was sensation and better priced. So too was the 'loose goose' restaraunt. Paint was bubbling of the walls in our room and it was evident everywhere that the place is falling down. One of the main decorative beams in the pitch above the games room is will slide off the roof if the rest of it gives way. The sign on the beach in front of the pool should just be taken out its in such a terrible state. There was no cushioning on any of the beach chairs and overall seating was unconfortable. We were so happy to get home to our leather lounges. There is an incense stick scent bottle in the ladies toilets (in the lobby) with human hair on it. There is no reason that a small arrangement of flowers (or greenery taken from the grounds at zero cost if need be) could instead be placed in there daily. Instead of evidently wet area's being mopped over near the outdoor bar area to aid in drying and being presentable, 'wet area' signs would be placed. Our room was serviced late in the afternoon and not at all on 3 occasions. I contacted reception on the 3rd occasion - after being out all day with our family doing sport thinking we would come back to the room to have a shower and relax - room wasnt done and all towels were wet from day prior. When I called I was told "I'm sorry, the cleaning staff are doing their very best to get around as quickly as possible" Absolutely not accepteble. Line used should have been "I'm sorry, I'll have someone to your room within 20 minutes". Cleaning staff informed us we would receive a $15 credit for each day it wasn't done - alarming that there is a policy in place showing this must be standard practice (to not service rooms). Kids club was advertised however it seemed no real effort was made to hold activities for the kids. Water activity staff were unfriendly and disengaged from patrons, some seen sitting scrolling on phones for lenghts of time. When we asked if we could order from take away menu (for kids) and restaraunt menu (for us) to have seated in foyer were told by staff 'I've had 2 run ins with the chef about this already, he doesnt like it but I'll try for you and order plates with take away". I understand construction is underway to lift quality of rooms and at checkout I mentioned we would not have stayed had we known it was in the process of being done up. I was gleefully told that the qld govt had the footballers stay so it couldnt be done then. Interesting that the paying families who you want to return for their annual holidays have to endure the noise but not the precious footballers. Overall we would not recommend at stay at the hotel and will not be returning.
