​We recently stayed in Room 23 (Rooftop Terrace) over the long weekend, while extended family stayed in a separate two-bedroom apartment in the tower. On the positive side for our room, the apartment was very clean, comfortable, and we appreciated the lovely handwritten welcome card on arrival. Our older-style apartment has been nicely updated with newer furniture, the kitchen was generous and well-equipped, and we loved having a separate toilet from the second bathroom. The location is also fantastic, offering a very short walk from Bulcock Street to the Esplanade via the pram route, and our rooftop terrace provided lovely views with a clean, well-maintained spa. However, our family staying in the tower had a different experience, commenting that their room felt very old and desperately needed a renovation. ​For our unit, navigating the hotel with an 11-month-old and a pram was quite difficult, and I wouldn't recommend it for families with infants. During our stay, a ground-floor door was damaged and blocked off, which was our only stairs-free route, meaning we ended up having to bypass the witches' hat and use it anyway. Another major letdown was the unit next door to us, which we understood to be tenants. They heavily smoked (and not just cigarettes), making the hallways incredibly stinky to the point where we had to open the hallway windows ourselves to try and air the space out. ​Inside our apartment, there were several quirks and maintenance issues that need addressing. The TV in the second bedroom was completely unusable as it had no connection to either the TV aerial or Foxtel. In the bathrooms, the ensuite felt a bit cramped due to a small basin and mirror, and the replacement shower heads in both bathrooms cannot be angle-adjusted. Because they point straight out, the shower sprays water everywhere in the main bathroom, which has clearly caused the vanity doors to swell over time. More seriously, the power point to the left of the stove was loose and dangerously coming away from the wall, so we just pushed it back and avoided using it altogether. Finally, while our rooftop spa was great, the shade sail and spa cover are badly worn, and the rooftop area itself feels a bit lacklustre and could really use some plants or amenities to liven it up. ​Overall, it's a clean property in a good spot, but management really needs to look into room upgrades for the tower, fix the loose kitchen power point and plumbing choices, and address the smoking issue in the hallways.

Booked this room for the balcony spa but unfortunately it was up a spiral staircase that we could not go up so couldn’t use the bbq or spa. I have a booking Xmas week for 4 days which I will now cancel as we can’t use the facilities.

I can understand how disappointing it would have been not being able to access the balcony spa and BBQ, especially when you were looking forward to using them. In some of our apartments, these areas are accessed via a spiral staircase, which can be a bit tricky and doesn’t suit everyone. We stayed in the disable room had only one problem and that was the hoist doesn't go over carpet very good
