Whilst we were happy to pay a premium because it was NYE and the views were great and staff lovely the room was a huge disappointment. Old worn dirty furniture, dirty shower wall, broken floor tiles, extremely loud dishwasher, no hand towels, sheet didnt fit the bed and the smell from the garbage room in the hallway was bad but when it wafted into our room overnight it was terrible. I know other rooms were updated but this was very very below par for Mantra/Accor and if I had known the room was being left to rot I would not have booked it. Plus there were post it notes in the kitchen with room prices significantly less than we paid. Also the garbage shute has a sign asking guests to go to Level 2 with their glass etc., this is not appropriate, other hotels have a bin set aside for this and hotel staff empty it. Also, 2 dishwasher and 2 washing machine sachets and 1 extra toilet roll for each toilet and 1 tea towel for a 7 night stay is so unnecessarily skimpy.

I’m genuinely sorry to read that your New Year’s Eve stay did not meet expectations, particularly given the premium nature of the period and your understandable expectations of Mantra and Accor standards. While I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed the views and found our team to be lovely, it is very disappointing to learn of the condition of the apartment and the cleanliness and maintenance issues you’ve outlined. Matters such as worn furniture, cleanliness concerns, damaged tiles, missing amenities, noise from appliances, and linen fit are certainly below the standard we aim to deliver and are not reflective of the experience we want our guests to have. I’m also sorry for the impact the odour from the garbage room had on your stay. This is something we take seriously, and your comments have been shared with our building and housekeeping teams for review and corrective action. Likewise, your feedback regarding the garbage chute arrangements and amenity allocations for a seven-night stay is valid and has been noted, as these processes should be convenient and appropriate for guests, not frustrating or restrictive. Regarding the notes left in the apartment referencing room prices, I completely understand how upsetting this would have been and apologise for the oversight. These should never have been visible to guests. Your comments about some apartments being updated while others are not are acknowledged. We are continuing to work with apartment owners on refurbishment programs, however this does not excuse the shortcomings you experienced, and I regret that this was your impression of our property. Thank you again for your honest feedback. It is through reviews like yours that we are able to address gaps and push for improvements.
