Despite doing online carparking prior to arrival it didn't work. Lighting is very poor. Too dark in hallways and lighting in room and bathroom also inadequate. The step up into the pool is way too high for safety particularly when wet. Also step up once in magnesium pool to get out also too high. Once again a safety hazard. Wait staff in lido too much chatting and not enough working. Food was average. Location good. Rooms good apart from silly cactus in corner and also mattress topper on bed made bed very uncomfortable and also big dip. I asked for mattress topper to be removed and it did improve comfort.

I understood I had booked an ocean view room however was in a Mountain View room. When I questioned it I found the response unsatisfactory.

The Mondrian is in a great location in Burleigh Heads and overall has a lot going for it, though there are definitely areas that need improvement. The standout for us was the staff. Reception and the team at Lito restaurant were excellent — friendly, attentive and professional. The food at Lito was genuinely very good and a highlight of our stay. There’s also a great deal at the pool bar with champagne and oysters, which was a nice touch. The staff member we met at the Ciel spa was extremely friendly and attentive and even gave us a tour of the spa. The poolside Haven bar was a bit hit and miss. A couple of the bartenders were fantastic, but others were noticeably less polished. Unfortunately, the cocktails themselves were disappointing for the price point. At around $26 per cocktail, the quality was very poor — they looked pretty, but the taste didn’t match the cost at all. The rooms are lovely in terms of design and comfort, but ours lacked a balcony and a bath, which was disappointing for a hotel at this level. Storage was also limited, with not enough drawer space for clothes. Housekeeping was inconsistent — on one occasion we returned to find the bed only half made, and towels were regularly insufficient for the three of us staying in the room. It’s also worth noting that there is significant construction happening in the surrounding area at the moment, and the pool only gets sun until about midday, which impacts the pool experience. Overall, the Mondrian has real potential: great location, strong food offering, and some excellent staff. With more consistency in service, better cocktail quality, and attention to room functionality, it could be a standout stay.

Rooms are lovely, well appointed and great amenities in room. The food at restaurants is ok but better options around Burleigh. The real downside is the lifts. The waits were very long and being on a higher floor (while appreciated) you need to plan well in advance to get down to the lower levels. Given the size of the hotel I’m shocked how few lifts they have.
