The architecture and layout of the hotel are first‑rate. The lobby has a great atmosphere, and we started our evening with drinks on the ground floor. While my wife and I were talking, I quietly asked the concierge to collect my bag from my car across the road and take it to our room — she didn’t know we were staying the night as it was a surprise for her birthday. Perhaps naively, I assumed this would be a simple courtesy. Instead, when I checked out, I found a charge of more than $50 for the service. I’m comfortable paying a premium for food and drinks, but not for something I would consider a basic part of guest service and housekeeping. I raised this at checkout and was told it would be reviewed. It was — but the charge remained. Unfortunately, that left a disappointing end to an otherwise excellent stay.

We had a wonderful stay and although it’s the first week of winter we still managed to enjoy the swimming pool and the magnesium pools. The hotel was clean, crisp and stylish and we found the staff to be efficient, welcoming and accomodating. We loved the room and felt so relaxed and comfortable, the view was dreamy and downstairs the coffee and food was delicious. We will certainly look forward to another visit! Thanks Mondrian!
