I booked a three-bedroom ocean view apartment. Unfortunately, the apartment provided did not align with this description. On arrival, it was immediately apparent that the apartment did not offer a genuine ocean view. Any view of the ocean was limited to a narrow gap between surrounding buildings, and only visible by leaning over the balcony and looking to the side. This does not reasonably reflect what would typically be understood or marketed as an ocean view. The apartment was also not presented in an acceptable condition. The carpets and furniture were visibly stained, and the overall level of cleanliness fell well below expectations. Further inspection revealed that the apartment did not contain three compliant bedrooms. There were two standard bedrooms, and a third internal room with no windows or apparent source of natural light or ventilation. An internal room of this nature would not ordinarily meet the requirements of a habitable bedroom and should not be described or marketed as such. I raised these concerns with management, believing there may have been an error in the allocation. I was advised that this apartment was classified by them as both an ocean view and a three-bedroom apartment. When I queried whether the internal room met habitable room requirements, I was told that different rules applied in Queensland. My understanding is that while certain concessions may exist in limited circumstances, they still require specific conditions, which this room did not appear to satisfy. Management ultimately agreed to refund the booking, despite it being non-refundable. While this was appreciated, it left us without accommodation during peak season and required us to urgently secure alternative arrangements. This was a disappointing start to what was intended to be a relaxing holiday.
