I always come to Peppers for business due to its location & proximity to services. 1 thing I was disappointed by was the room service connection to Social Dining. I thought this was a great initiative however when I tried to order everything was "sold out" so I couldn't use it

Car park entry instructions we received were incorrect and confusing. Very little signage to find lifts from car park to Tower 1 and/or Tower 2. Once checked in and moved car to allocated parking space, very little signage to access lifts to room. Once in lifts to room, no signage to say one side of lifts were for high floors and one side for low floors. Doors locked at 5pm with a sign to go to tower 2 where we were met with a condescending attitude from receptionist because we hadn't used the side door (instruction in small print BELOW first instruction to go to tower 2. I am a platinum member where I should have received complementary breakfast and drinks on arrival, totally impossible when the hotel does not have a restaurant or bar.

We enjoyed the stay, but the Dryer was faulty and was replaced with a very old dryer that had parts of it falling off.

Feedback on recent stay at Peppers Broadbeach. -Room was described as “ocean facing”, the view of the ocean was, indeed, facing the ocean but obstructed by multiple buildings, which made the description misleading. -Dead cockroach on the patio, that remained after housekeeping. -Housekeeping did not occur on the scheduled day, and although a clean was arranged after I raised the issue, I was not advised of the timing, which meant I couldn’t prepare the room which resulted in a less effective clean. -The smell/fragrance used around the waste chute was unpleasant. -The sauna and steam room smelt stale and looked tired. -Service throughout the stay was cool and clinical, with little warmth or welcome. -As an explorer plus gold member, the overall experience and stay was disappointing.

We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered with your room and housekeeping. The condition of the patio, the missed scheduled service, and the lack of communication around the timing of the subsequent clean are not reflective of the standards we aim to maintain. Your feedback regarding the waste chute fragrance, as well as the condition and odour of our sauna and steam room, has also been noted. These areas should feel fresh, well maintained and inviting, and we will be sharing your comments with the public area teams to look into. We also appreciate your comments regarding the outlook from your room. They are classed as an ocean facing room, however due to our positioning in Broadbeach it is not unobstructed. We are sorry that this aspect of your stay did not meet expectations. Most importantly, we are disappointed to hear that our service felt cool and clinical rather than warm and welcoming. At Peppers Broadbeach, we aim to ensure all of our guests feel warmly welcomed as it helps contribute towards a more comfortable and memorable stay. I specifically chose Peppers Broadbeach because I am an Accor Plus member and have previously valued the benefits associated with my membership. I was therefore expecting a certain standard of accommodation and service. Unfortunately, this stay was an extremely disappointing experience from the moment we arrived and, in my view, fell well below the standard I would reasonably expect from a Peppers property. The accommodation cost was approximately $400 for the one-night stay for two people in a two-bedroom ocean-view apartment. Unfortunately, the experience was nowhere near what I expected for that price. 1. Parking and $170 parking infringement We arrived at approximately 7pm. There was nowhere suitable to park on the street, so we temporarily pulled into the first available area while I went into reception to obtain our room key and establish where we were supposed to park. We were inside reception for no more than approximately five minutes. When we returned to the vehicle, there was already a $170 parking infringement notice on the windscreen. Extremely difficult and confusing parking arrangements After obtaining our room key, it took approximately 40 minutes to locate the correct Peppers parking area underneath the building. The available parking spaces were extremely difficult to identify and appeared to be occupied. This created further frustration and unnecessary stress. No restaurant or breakfast facilities One of the reasons I chose Peppers was because I expected the facilities and services normally associated with a property of this standard. After checking in, I specifically asked where the restaurant was and what time breakfast commenced. I was then informed that there was no restaurant and no breakfast service at the property. Instead, we were provided with a 20% discount card for a nearby coffee shop. This was particularly problematic because my son needed to eat very early the following morning before undergoing a medical procedure. We were subsequently informed that cooked breakfast was not available there until approximately 6:30 am.Condition of the apartment When we finally reached the apartment, the first thing we noticed upon entering was the condition of the carpet. The carpet was visibly stained and appeared extremely dirty and worn, which immediately gave the apartment an unclean and poorly maintained appearance. For accommodation costing approximately $400 for one night, this was not what I expected. I was also disappointed that there was no apparent recognition of my Accor Plus membership through any room upgrade, late checkout or other meaningful benefit. 5. Lack of basic provisions The apartment did not contain what I would consider reasonable basic provisions for a two-person stay. There was: * No bottled water; * No mini-bar; * Only a very small number of tea/coffee sachets; * No apparent information/service directory in the apartment explaining available facilities or services. I drink black tea, and there were only approximately two tea bags available for two people for a 24-hour stay. Unfortunately, the beds were also extremely uncomfortable. Although they were both king-size beds, the mattresses felt exceptionally hard and uncomfortable. I described the sensation as being like sleeping on a slab of concrete. I woke during the night with pins and needles in both arms and had very little sleep as a result. After the exhausting experience of arriving, parking, no assistance with luggage/trolleys and getting settled, the expectation was that we would be able to have a comfortable night’s sleep. Unfortunately, that simply did not happen. 7. Laundry facilities and lack of instructions I also needed to wash some clothing during our stay. The washing machine and dryer were not straightforward to operate, and there were no clear instructions displayed in the laundry area explaining how to activate or initiate the power for the equipment. Given that this is an apartment-style property where guests are presumably expected to make use of the facilities, clear operating instructions should be provided. 8. No ice available After the stressful ordeal I simply wanted to sit down and have a glass of wine after what had already been an incredibly stressful arrival. When I went to obtain ice from the freezer, I found an empty ice container and no ice. I ultimately had to walk approximately 200 metres down the street and into another building/tower to request ice. To their credit, staff subsequently brought ice up to the apartment and also brought another bottle of white wine, which I appreciated. That gesture was helpful and did go some way towards calming what had already been a very frustrating situation. However, it does not resolve the fact that there were repeated basic service failures throughout the stay. 9. Accor Plus membership benefits I am particularly disappointed because I am an Accor Plus member, for which I pay an annual membership fee, and one of the reasons I chose this property was specifically because I expected to receive the benefits associated with that membership. I had anticipated benefits such as recognition of my membership, a room upgrade where available, late check-out and the other applicable Accor Plus benefits. Instead, I received very little recognition of the membership and, from my experience, very little value from it during this stay. I had also intended to use my Accor Plus dining benefits during the stay, only to discover that there was no restaurant at the property. I would therefore like clarification as to which Accor Plus benefits should have applied to this booking and why they were not provided or explained to me at check-in. Overall experience What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was supposed to be a relaxing overnight stay. Instead, from the moment we arrived, we experienced: * A $170 parking infringement within minutes of arriving; * Confusing parking arrangements; * Approximately 30 minutes spent trying to locate the correct parking area; * No restaurant; * No breakfast service; * Inadequate information regarding alternative dining; * No bottled water; * No mini-bar; * Very limited tea/coffee provisions; * A visibly stained and dirty carpet; * Extremely uncomfortable beds; * Lack of clear laundry instructions; * No ice available; * No meaningful recognition of my Accor Plus membership; and * Very little sleep. No late checkout The cumulative effect of these issues completely undermined the purpose of our stay. I am therefore requesting that this complaint be formally investigated and that management provide me with: 1. A written explanation regarding the circumstances surrounding the $170 parking infringement and what assistance Peppers is prepared to provide in relation to it; 2. An explanation as to why the applicable Accor Plus benefits were not provided or explained; 3. An explanation as to why there was no clear information provided at check-in regarding the absence of restaurant and breakfast facilities; 4. An explanation regarding the condition and cleanliness of the apartment, particularly the heavily stained carpet. I would not recommend this property.
