Recent 2 nights at this hotel. For a luxury hotel it was pretty average. The room was in need of an upgrade with a dated bathroom. Most annoying was the early morning evacuation where staff seemingly had no idea what to do. Guests all waiting in the foyer to get back to their rooms after this false alarm. Check in was clumsy with errors made. Staff in the restaurant also made mistakes. Waiting for our coffee at breakfast then a double order turns up. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

I am truly sorry to read that your experience did not reflect the high standards of luxury and service that Sofitel is renowned for. Please accept my apologies for the series of inconveniences you encountered, from the fire alarm disruption to the errors at check-in and in the restaurant. The evacuation procedure you described is certainly not reflective of our usual efficiency, and I regret the confusion and frustration it caused. I will be personally addressing this matter with our Front Office teams to ensure clearer communication and coordination should such an incident occur again. I also note your comments regarding the room and bathroom condition. We are in the process of planning future capital enhancements, and your feedback reinforces the importance of these discussions with our owners. Regarding your breakfast and coffee service experience, please rest assured that I will share this feedback with our Director of Food & Beverage to ensure our team receives the training and attention to detail expected in a Sofitel breakfast service. Staff were all great..and very helpful. Gluten free area at breakfast needed upgrade and large sign indicating gluton free only. Saw man putting ordinary bread in gf toaster. Contaminated . Staffobviously not trained for gf diets. .

From the moment we entered the foyer of the Sofitel, Gold Coast, which we chose to spend a special occasion in our lives, we knew that it couldn’t be the Hotel it propounded to be. The poor taste of furniture reaching a climax of female Receptionist lacking in the famous Gallic welcome and facially glum warned us of what was to come. Our Room 2110 cost us a lot per day and we stayed 5 days at the Sofitel, Gold Coast. Here, once again, for the price we paid, the furniture was, what we call ‘laminated’, simply didn’t fit in with the famous French decor and what we expected from a Room for such a hefty price. The saving grace was the comfortable bed. Under the circumstances, we had to contend ourselves for ‘small mercies’! At the astronomical price we paid for 5 days, breakfast was not included. The TV was on when we walked into our room of sorts. On it were the words of welcome by Mat Andraws, the General Manager who ended his message with the words, ‘C’est magnifique’. The use of a few words in French did not compensate for the penury of the room. Altogether, the Sofitel Gold Coast, is not worth the money for what the high standards proclaims to offer. We say this because we have stayed at Sofitels elsewhere, Manila, for example.

I am, however, pleased to hear you found comfort in our bedding — a hallmark of Sofitel’s signature “MyBed” experience — though I regret that other aspects of your stay did not align with your expectations or past experiences at other Sofitel destinations. I stayed here for three nights, paying around AUD 250 per night, but the service from the operator was absolutely disappointing. How is it possible that bottled water is not replenished daily in a hotel of this standard? Everyday I requested water, the staff made it feel like a burden, and even after housekeeping, the bottles were never refilled. As you can confirm from the call recording of room 2007, when we first entered the room, only one pair of slippers was provided — one was used, with just torn packaging left behind. There were also no toothbrushes or shaving kit provided in the room. Except for Chris, the rest of the front desk and concierge staff showed no sense of hospitality at all. Their attitude and service are far from what one would expect from a five-star hotel. I have stayed at several Sofitel properties in different regions, but unfortunately, I would never consider returning to the Gold Coast location again.
