Somewhat underwhelmed by the interior design.Parts of the hotel were rather dark & almost ‘institutional’.The hotel lobby is rather nondescript & not exactly bright & welcolming.The carpeting outside the lifts & hallways is rather ‘sad’ in appearance. On occasions I found it annoying at breakfast waiting to be ‘checked in’ & seated. The absence of a laundry service after I arrived was explained away as being due to the firm used by the hotel being closed over the holiday period.Not something I recall having stayed at more centrally located hotels in Melbourne over the years.

I wanted to like HC, but, honestly, I couldn’t. There were problems communicating with HC before I arrived, the check-in process was clunky (I checked in online and then had to repeat the process when I arrived), the room had minimal storage area, the bathroom was tired and not as clean as it could be, the king size bed was not flat (it seemed to have been “crushed” on one side), the air conditioning was impossible to “set and forget” at a comfortable level, the room service order process was awkward and the choice of food extremely limited, the 12th floor pool was dirty, my room lacked a mini bar price list and so on. In order to deal with the tilting bed issue, HC moved me to a better room (for which I’m grateful). I could say more, but you get the drift. So, in a word, disappointing.

The good: - rooms were modern and clean - staff were friendly - great location - everything worked well and had no issues Areas to improve - Self parking is over priced for what it is - Pool and fitness center is too small - not quite at 5 star level - Lack of amenities - very basic amenities in room provided - no tooth brush, shaver or water facilities (bottled water or water stations) Would stay again and recommend other based on location.
