Rixos Sungate was my first hotel from this chain, which I visited as part of a business trip. Given the brand's reputation and the other Rixos hotels we visited, I had quite high expectations. I don't like writing negative reviews because the hotel has huge potential, but honestly, I think it currently suffers from very poor organization and logistics. Overall, my feelings about this stay are very mixed. ➕ What I absolutely loved: Rixy Kids Club: Absolutely brilliant! The kids' club concept across the entire Rixos chain is amazing and incredibly well-thought-out. Even compared to the other hotels from this brand that we visited, it proves to be the absolute top of the line, and Sungate is no exception. The variety of activities for children is unbelievable. Entertainment & Beach: The outdoor disco is very nice and was a lot of fun. I also really liked the beach restaurant—it was peaceful and much less crowded. First impression of the room: The room was visually beautiful, luxurious, and the complimentary minibar is a great benefit. ➖ What needs significant improvement: Confusing logistics and layout: The resort is massive. Finding the way from our room to the restaurant was quite a challenge—even though we followed the signs, we ended up at the reception twice. I was honestly afraid to go anywhere because I was worried about getting lost. We always had to carefully plan and calculate every walk back to the room to make sure we could make it on time. Chaos in the main restaurant: This was a bit much. The dining area was packed to the brim, incredibly stuffy inside, and there was a 20-minute queue for meat. Finding a place to sit was a major issue, and the tables weren't prepared. I couldn't find cutlery anywhere, so I had to go and take it from another table. The staff was completely overwhelmed (which I don't blame them for), but a hotel of this calibre desperately needs more staff, self-service beverage stations, and at least 3 main restaurants included in the all-inclusive program. Room details: There is only one tiny shelf for toiletries in the shower. When two women are sharing a room with their own cosmetics, there is no way it fits (I had to keep my things on the floor). The hotel provides a body sponge, but there are no shelves or hooks to hang it or the towels (there were only hooks for bathrobes). The toilet door wouldn't close properly, and while the minibar featured glass bottles with metal caps, there was no bottle opener in the room. Dining misses: The beach restaurant served plain, dry spaghetti without any sauce. When I asked the staff for sauce, they pointed me to the meat sauces—barbecue and sweet chilli, which really don't go well with pasta (the food selection there was generally smaller, but that wouldn't have minded so much). Service: This was the first hotel of this tier where no one took our luggage to the room upon arrival. I have no problem carrying my own bags, but at a Rixos, I would somewhat expect this service. Conclusion: It was definitely a huge experience, but I probably wouldn't choose this hotel for a private holiday. It is really necessary to improve the organization and management of the entire resort. I don't know if anyone will actually read this all the way to the end :D but I wish them the best of luck because they definitely have what it takes to be great! Nathalia T.

Geared up to look great on photos but food was terrible, particularly in buffet. Cost for essentials (feminine hygiene products) were extortionate, room was fine but tired, definitely not a 5*. Spent half our time at Land of Legends. Even taxi company recommended by hotel was more expensive than local companies. Definitely not good for active teenagers.

Firstly, I’d like to begin by saying that we had a very enjoyable time and really liked the hotel. With that being said there are a few improvements which would have improved the experience. Cons - Hotel staff were often distracted and multitasking, meaning it was challenging to get a drink at dinner - Staff would forget that you have asked for a drink and frequently we had to ask a staff member 2 or 3 times. - No self service stations for drinks - There were no cocktails served at the beach bar. - Food was repetitive. - Evening entertainment was limited. 3 shows in 11 days of our holiday - non smoking areas was limited - no “adult only” areas Pro - Very nice cocktails, and good selection - very big pools - lots of bars around - very clean and spacious - good rooms
