Overall great hotel with top notch amenities. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and perfect for beach setting. Beach had great seating options and so many pools to choose from. Gym was nice but lacked sauna / steam room as had to pay separately at the spa. No hot jacuzzi on premises either.
Main drawback is the quality of food for the price. Given hotel’s location you have no choice but to eat at their average and very expensive food venues. Humo was good but costly. Breakfast was thankfully included. Other venues including the food truck were average and very costly. We live in NYC and are used to costly but insist the quality must match, here it did not!

It would be better if communication over whatsapp was handled better. I had reached out to coordinate transportation from the airport to the resort but responses were delayed or slowed. I had to call multiple times over WhatsApp and the phone number on the website to be connected to someone. It was stressful to know if we had transportation to the resort or not.

Accor recognition non existent. Accor status not mentioned at all on checkin. No mention of room upgrade which I appreciate is subject to availability but Accor hotels usually at least acknowledge it with a comment that not possible due to high occupancy etc. As All.accor status not even mentioned I check that my accor membership was on their system. Confirmed it was but still nothing in response. No welcome amenity provided on any sort (that is a first for a premium Accor branded hotel). No mention of a welcome drink or how it could be used but able to redeem the e-voucher in the Accor App although staff struggled to know how to use it.
Transfer to room on arrival and departure was unacceptably slow. Hotel has insufficient buggies for the size of hotel leaving guests hanging around waiting (20 mins on arrival, 50 minutes on departure which meant we were late leaving for the airport). The buggy drivers themselves are excellent and friendly.
Facilities at hotel are extensive.
Pool service good.
Restaurant service friendly but extremely slow. Bahia was particularly poor and then they a pushing you out at 10pm even though you're only there so long because the service is so slow. Food was overall good but for prices being charged it should have been better. Sofitel Santa Clare food quality it higher as are many restaurants in Cartagena and they are charging 20% less.
Charging 33% more of any identical bottle of water in a restaurant compared to drinking it in a hotel bar or pool is disappointing to note and indicates the priorities of this hotel is maximising income rather than a high quality service.
Breakfast ok, the breakfast room design is poor which make it feel like a university canteen. No cooked to order at table service which is disappointing for a hotel of this type.
Room was ok, bed hard for Sofitel hotel. Furniture and Fittings in the room appeared cheap and various things were already showing signs of wear and tear. The room finishes are more Novotel and Sofitel.
The stay overall was OK but compared to Sofitel Santa Clara service was poor and slow and pricing was too high for what was being offered. Happy to pay higher prices for high quality but Sofitel Baru is high prices for average quality. Below Sofitel standards to too many areas. If I had booked a 4 star hotel I would have been happy but the hotel failed to achieve Sofitel standards frequently.

I had high expectations for Sofitel Baru given what I have read about the hotel, sometimes it is hard to have high expectations because most of the time they are not met, this was not the case for Sofitel. WOW! the customer service is wonderful all the staff is extremely kind and willing to go above an beyond to make your stay comfortable. We brought our dog "Martin" with us (emotional support dog) and Sofitel proved to really be dog friendly. By the time we were leaving everyone knew the name of Martin.
I want to give a special shoutout to Lila we met her by the beach and she asked us if we were celebrating something special after telling her we were celebrating a birthday and our recent engagement she made sure later that night we god a sweet surprise at our room among with some cookies for "Martin", it was the sweetest.
If I could just give one little improvement is the margaritas at the beach, the drink was tasteless and with barely any alcohol. The other little detail is that even though we had notified prior to arrival we were coming in with our dog we had to call twice asking for a bed and bowls for him.
Other than that everything was lovely, we cannot wait to be back in paradise.

I had an excellent stay & great vacation. The property is beautiful, the room 336 was immaculately cleaned, the bellman Idelso was so helpful upon arrival & everyday I needed help or a ride. The consierge was amazing- they made arrangements for a super fun day just for me as well as transfer arrangements. The food was delicious & the breakfast hostesses recognized me everyday which was nice. The spa was the best! An excellent value for a very luxurious experience. The pool & beach attendants were attentive & quick. I loved the food truck for quick lunch & eve bon fire. Manuel was very sweet. I had room service one night & it was quick & hot which is rare for room service. Check in/out was quick and pleasant. Two things I would improve on is; no place to buy small snacks/drinks- the gift shop was too limited as it is a very remote location. Also the beach was often really crowded & it was hard to find a lounge chair. Other than that - it was an exceptionally good stay. From security- which was important as a single female to the great housekeeping I was very impressed.

From check-in until the last minute of our stay we enjoyed the whole trip. Just a small thing we could suggest to change - We provided sufficient tip to the service during our trip and during check-out a 10% general service tip was recommended. It made us feel very uncomfortable to decline it and the tone of the service desk operator changed immediately. Such treatment is not consistent with the rest of the experience and a more transparent tip-culture would improve it and avoid inconvenience on both sides.

From the moment you step out of the car for arrival someone is there greeting you and taking your bag, not mention they give you the most refreshing cool towels that smell of eucalyptus. The food is spectacular you ate at every restaurant. The beach and views are breathtaking. The service is wonderful and every person that works there is beyond friend and helpful. The facilities are outstanding in all regards, activities schedule and restaurant offering is generous. However the tipping experience felt very Americanized and uncomfortable to a point with all the hidden and extra fees, which we personally disliked very much.
There is a service fee of 10% in all restaurants (all employee tipping fund)
Then they recommend additional tips of 10%
Then upon check out they also include by default another extra 10% to each nightly rate of the room.
While it is possible to exclude these fees it puts the guest in an uncomfortable position. Considering that food is already very highly priced it feels excessive and not transparent.
For example, ordering a club sandwich for room service goes from 59,000 to 89,000 when 10%+10%+room service fee are added automatically without asking. So it does feel like an Americanized experience where you see a price in the menu but your total bill goes up pretty fast. Coming from Europe it just doesn’t feel right.
We do want to highlight the OUTSTANDING service of German at the reception who took amazing care of us especially noticing that my wife is from Cali and the earthquake had just occurred and supporting us in having the best possible stay given the circumstances.
