I want to start with the people, because they are truly exceptional. Every staff member we met was warm, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about our stay. The hotel history tour with Jason was a real highlight: he was engaging and knowledgeable, and he made us appreciate the building's story even more. The service is without question the best part of this hotel and the main reason it still feels special. That said, the property itself is not living up to its five stars or its price. The gym was horrendous: extremely small, outdated and honestly unacceptable for a five-star hotel at this price in 2026. Our bathroom was also extremely small and outdated; as a couple traveling together, there simply was not enough space for anything. The room style felt dated and tired rather than classy, and at times the stay felt more like a three-star hotel than a Sofitel. This is a historic building with so much potential, but it needs serious updating to match the rates and the stars on the door. One practical note: a 10% tip on the stay is expected. It was disclosed upfront with our reservation, so it was not a surprise, and we were glad to know in advance. Worth keeping in mind when budgeting. On dining: the buffet was okay, but the pastries did not feel as fresh as at other five-star hotels, where they are usually served warm. For us, serving temperature and freshness are exactly the details that separate a four-star from a five-star experience, so this stood out. And I have to say it plainly: this hotel is very expensive for the lack of attention to detail. The infrastructure is tired, the rooms need real care, and even the breakfast misses the small things, like pastries that should be served warm. At these prices I expect the details to be handled, and too often they were not.

We enjoyed our stay. This is your 4th time visiting and it never disappoints. The staff was very attentive and went the extra mile to make a very happy stay. The facilities are very good with a very relaxing and enjoyable pool . The restaurant and bars were very nice, tasty and ample breakfast. Service was the best in our rooms as well with turn up beds 2 times a day and excellent cleanliness. Overall, a excellent choice. We will come back as soon as possible!
