Hotel Majapahit has the most turbulent history ever but over the 116 years in existence, the hotel has maintained its charm and quality. While the stones and bricks stay on, the new generation of staff keeps the warmth and smiles going. In the middle of a busy and vibrant city of Surabaya, Hotel Majapahit presents a quiet almost surreal atmosphere with greenery, fountains and chirping birds. The General Manager, Mr Kahar Salamun and his team are always around, ready to serve, ready to lend a hand, ready to listen and ready to make a moment better.

We loved our stay at Hotel Majapahit Surabaya. This is a true historic hotel with an old Dutch-era building that instantly gives you that grand, timeless feel. Room & Vibes: Room was super spacious and the antique furniture made it feel special, not just another hotel room. The green gardens around the hotel are beautiful and peaceful - perfect for a slow morning walk. Location & Food: Location is very strategic, easy to reach anywhere in Surabaya. Food was pretty good too, with that classic hotel restaurant vibe. If you love history and character over cookie-cutter hotels, Majapahit is it. We felt like we were part of Surabaya’s story for a night.

The staff, especially Anna, was so kind and helpful to us. They did so much including finding an obscure book I wanted to get, giving us tours of rooms with Wayang, and of course the tour of room 33 (we did that twice). For our second stay they put us in a room where we could see the Indonesian flag from the flag incident because they knew we had an interest in the revolution. They got us the best tour guide, Reza, who used to work in the hotel. Anna even got us some small Wangan Kulit as a parting gift. It was such a special experience even though it's a fairly large hotel. Thank you for making our stay in Surabaya so special.
