Stay was good. Beds weren’t the most comfortable and the bedrooms were really warm

Rooms quite small, bar man was great but the breakfast service was virtually non existant.

Cafe was great and all team friendly

My experience as a long term guest at Shadowplay has been beyond expectations of what is generally offered in a hotel. The staff are very friendly, and nothing is too hard! Thank you to everyone for looking after me!

Excellent hotel staff. Great service and efficiency. Except the room quality is a bit not well maintained. For example the fixture of the cabinets are falling apart as well as the kettle. Overall it's very clean to stay. In house movies and interactive TV are great.

From checking in to checking out - my whole stay was seamless. What stands out are the staff, They were friendly, smiley and very welcoming. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and it was perfect for 3 nights. You must do breakfast- the food and service amazing. Don’t forget to check out the “cloakroom” bar on the top floor for late night cocktails or drinks - dark, moody and fantastic vibes.

Well-appointed rooms for with kitchenette with full facilities. Very kind staff who would go out of their way to assist you with your stay. Close to Metro supermarkets. Very good breakfast (a few more choices would have been great) and coffee.

The rooms were clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. The staffs were nice, friendly and very helpful at the reception and the restaurant. The breakfast was good and the coffee was amazing. There’s a sauna and a steam room that we really enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Stayed for a night for a work trip, visiting Kieser physio in South Melbourne. Room was just what I needed. Only 1km from Albert Park made for a nice run in the morning.

Unfortunately our experience was grossly overshadowed by the following: 1. Smokers on the level/s above us were constantly dropping their cigarettes on the balcony, often whilst they were still alive. Literally overnight can have over 20 butts on the balcony. In the morning we can also see random ones being dropped. We raised this w/ staff who agreed that they were already aware that this was an issue, but struggling to action as it is occurring w/ residents located above Pepper's building. Whilst I can appreciate the latter, I do not think that this is good enough, particularly as I'm assuming that Pepper's are a part of the Body Corporate just like the 'other' residents. In hindsight, I am also surprised that if Pepper's are aware that this is an ongoing issue (apparently others have complained about tea bags), I don't understand why we were placed in that particular apartment, or offered to move when we raised the issue. The biggest concerns here are a) huge fire risk for Peppers if live butt drops onto the garden area and b) huge safety risk if a live butt drops onto a child (or adults) head. This is clearly an accident waiting to happen and I'm very surprised that this matter is not being escalated sufficiently to Management and Body Corporate. 2: On the last morning of our stay, we were gobsmacked that a staff member (maintenance guy) and 3-4 other tradespeople decided to enter our balcony (from next door) and wander all the way around the outside of the balcony. This was all the whilst I was half dressed lying on my bed! They clearly saw that I was there - as was other family members in the lounge room - but continued to poke around as if they were entitled to be there! It was a very distressing experience. My husband called reception to complain and post check out was advised that the maintenance people were told NOT to enter the balcony until after we left but they still went ahead anyway!. I said that if they had knocked on our door and kindly asked we would have more than accommodated their needs but this was just something else! Again, whilst I would expect non-Peppers staff may be ignorant to do such a thing, but when they are being escorted by Pepper's staff who should be trained and inducted to know NOT to do this, this is just terrible. And a warning in my mind is just not sufficient - this should be an immediate suspension or termination in my mind.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with our 2 young girls for 4 nights while we explored the city. Upon arriving by car, there was no obvious entrance and we circled the block a few times trying to see where to stop. We ended up getting a car park further away and trying to lug all our suitcases down the street, it would have been nice to pull up right out the front, especially with children! When arriving in early evening, the writing on the glass is hard to see so we walked all the way around the outside of the hotel looking for something saying ‘hotel’ or ‘entrance’ but ended up still going through the wrong door and eventually finding the front desk for the hotel section, which was unattended. I thought it was supposed to be attended 24/7? We waited a few minutes, then in the incredibly dark room I finally saw a tiny card on the desk with a mobile number to call. I called it... no answer. I couldn’t believe it, it was getting late, we’d been driving for 4 hrs and we were exhausted, we just wanted to get our grumpy kids dinner and to bed. I called again, no answer. I then called Accor head reservations and asked where their staff were? Another few minutes and they got in touch with someone who finally appeared to check us in. It was somewhere between 6-7pm so not so late they’d be off sleeping but you’d think they would at least answer the phone if away for 15 minutes. The staff member was nice enough when he arrived. I later heard (on enquiring on checking out) that we could have pulled the car into the car stacker/parking area to just unpack the luggage before parking at the Crown on the next block over. ($10 daily parking instead of $45, do it!) Too late now. Our apartment was great though, very clean. Arriving put a negative spin on our trip and I wouldn’t stay here again based on all this, I’d rather go somewhere that I can pull up to the entrance in my car.
