Hotel is outdated and in need of renovation. Lighting is poor, especially in bathrooms. Mattress is well worn and not comfortable. Fixtures old.

A super disappointing stay (1/5) As a Platinum member, I had high expectations for my stay at the Fairmont Beijing, but unfortunately the experience fell well short of what I’d expect from a property of this calibre. Room Condition The room felt noticeably dated and in need of a refresh. To make matters worse, upon arriving back at our assigned room in the evening, we discovered the Wi-Fi was completely non-functional. This forced us to pack up everything we had already unpacked and relocate to another room, a frustrating and avoidable inconvenience after a long day. Even in the replacement room, issues persisted: the curtains were torn, and the air conditioning was not working. After sharing this with the staff they shared that the air conditioning is not working during this period and only air is being circulated through the vents. When raised with staff, they offered a portable fan as a workaround, a gesture appreciated, but hardly an adequate solution for a hotel at this price point. Platinum Member Recognition As a Platinum member, I received no welcome amenity and no room upgrade, not even a complimentary move to a higher category. We were simply placed in the same room tier as booked. For a loyalty member, this lack of recognition was disappointing and felt like the status carried no real weight at this property. Mind you that even hotels that i’ve stayed at i.e. Ibis, Mercure, Novotel have given welcome amenities. Breakfast Breakfast was average at best, I’d rate it a 6/10. Having stayed at properties like the Swissôtel Singapore and various other Fairmont and luxury hotels across multiple countries, the spread here felt underwhelming in terms of variety and quality. It didn’t come close to what I’ve experienced at comparable properties. Overall A lackluster stay that I would not recommend. The dated rooms, maintenance issues, poor Wi-Fi, and lack of Platinum recognition made for a forgettable experience. I hope the property invests in meaningful renovations and staff training around loyalty recognition soon. 1/5 stars

I always have great experience staying at the Fairmont doesn't matter which countries/ cities I visit. The Beijing location was exceptional as well, although the property is a bit old but Im still super impressed with the room. Their breakfast is exceptional with both Chinese and Western options. The hotel staff also helped us couriered our luggage to another hotel. The only one area I didnt get the same experience as other location was the welcome drink. The Beijing location had a specific drink menu for the welcome drink, the option was very limited whereas at other location, I was able to order a drink of my choice from the regular menu. Thank you

Check in and out is speedy and efficient despite some language barrier. Hotel lounge staff is rushy and even overpour my tea. Front line Staff generally just want to get job done w/o hospitality at all. Saving grace is house keeping, those ladies are just lovely and try their best. Hope younger reception, lounge and breakfast staffs can learn from them.
