As an Accor plus elite member, it was really a disappointment staying there. No upgrade, reason given was all rooms were fully booked. No lounge access, reason given was term and condition stated. Welcome drink, no red or white wine. Are you crazy, such a big hotel and you said don't have wine. Shame on you Fairmont Beijing. I was supposed to have another stay in the following week, but I cancelled it immediately. Good thing I have other better loyalty programs who honour their members way much better.

A great experience for me and the family. The hotel is located in the CBD, one block from the Guomao 国贸 station, near a couple 24h convenience stores and some cheap eats. The rooms were a little old like most Beijing hotels, but still comfortable and spacious- think 'old time confort'. Bedding was great, and unlike many northern Chinese hotels, the central heating wasn't too hot in winter. Fitness centre and pool were clean and well-appointed. Breakfast included good selection of both western and chinese choices. Staff very courteous and responsive to needs.

Check in and out is speedy and efficient despite some language barrier. Hotel lounge staff is rushy and even overpour my tea. Front line Staff generally just want to get job done w/o hospitality at all. Saving grace is house keeping, those ladies are just lovely and try their best. Hope younger reception, lounge and breakfast staffs can learn from them.

I expected something different from the Fairmont, but the stay was something like I experience from Ibis. Quite disappointing, no help with the luggage even though they saw I was struggling with loading bags and indifferent staff. Issues with the bill as we decided to extend the stay and subsequently had two bookings. Had to point out issues in the room (light switches were malfunctioning), safety deposit box was not fixed in place and also malfunctioning, had to ask housekeeping to replace body cleanser and finally, inconsistent refills of nespresso capsules.

the hotel is lovely with decent breakfast, however the gold lounge is subpar with no cocktail/mocktail menu during evening hours, and the bedroom is too cold as there's no heater.
