We enjoyed out stay at Fairmont. We initially had some issues with our room but the following day Mr. Lane was fantastic and resolved everything. We are quite happy with his customer service and professionalism. Location is good, close to Silk road.

During the stay, the weather in Beijing varies from day to day. It was cold in the night and early morning. I am not able to control the Temperature in the room. There is no cold/warm air provided for the room. Have to ask the Staff to open the openable window at high level from time to time to make the air circulation and temperature in the room to be bearable. This made me felt awkward. In order not to disturb the staffs, I requested for a portable fans so that the window can be closed, and the staff managed to find one and passed to me. Despite from that, the Staffs provide Great Service. Location of the Hotel is OK.

The exterior and lobby are incredible and jaw dropping as you walk in. The room was the complete opposite. From chair upholstery being glued together by sticky tape to a mouldy wall that was literally falling dure to water damage, cracked unkept tiles I could not believe what I walked in. I’m not the type of person that complaints to change rooms for no reason but this was completely unacceptable and after 20 hours of traveling I had to pack up and go downstairs to complain. I was switched to a much nicer and bigger room that was fair from perfect but more in line with my expectations. Breakfast was average but extremely expensive for what you got, the pastries were at least a day old and tasted bad, everything was oily and not a lot of variety I would not recommend this add on if you’re very mobile or getting a good deal which I was not. In addition I was charged the price of a second room for requesting a rollout bed for my child. I tried to order room service once and the soup was well made but had zero salt, I requested salt and was given an empty salt shaker. English is not spoken by the majorly of staff so if you have any issues you need to be very patient and direct to get them revolved. Air quality and temperature inside the room was also too hot and stuffy but this was resolved once we requested the window to be open. This was not the worst stay of my life but FAR from my expectations when I booked a 5 star hotel of this calibre for the high price I paid. Overall I’m glad the room was changed to something acceptable but I am honestly disappointed.

While I generally appreciate the standards of your hotel, there were a few service inconsistencies that I feel are important to bring to your attention. ​I had two consecutive bookings for two days each. Upon check-in, I coordinated this with the front desk to ensure I could remain in the same room. However, it seems this wasn't updated in the system, as I was contacted mid-day during my second stay and asked to move my belongings. As I was away in business meetings with traders, this caused unnecessary stress. While the matter was eventually resolved—and I sincerely thank you for the thoughtful cake sent to my room afterward—better internal communication could have prevented this situation. ​Furthermore, there was some confusion regarding the payment for my second reservation. The receptionist (I believe her name was Alyson) requested payment for a booking that had already been settled. Although it was cleared up after a few minutes, it felt a bit uncoordinated. ​As a Hilton Gold and Marriott Elite member, I value seamless service and attention to detail. I ordered a Smoked Salmon Salad and a Minestrone Soup for in-room dining as a light dinner on 24th March. It caused me to suffer a severe diarrhea episode which I had to seek for medical attention and treatment at the hospital emergency department. I always have great experience staying at the Fairmont doesn't matter which countries/ cities I visit. The Beijing location was exceptional as well, although the property is a bit old but Im still super impressed with the room. Their breakfast is exceptional with both Chinese and Western options. The hotel staff also helped us couriered our luggage to another hotel. The only one area I didnt get the same experience as other location was the welcome drink. The Beijing location had a specific drink menu for the welcome drink, the option was very limited whereas at other location, I was able to order a drink of my choice from the regular menu. Thank you

Check in and out is speedy and efficient despite some language barrier. Hotel lounge staff is rushy and even overpour my tea. Front line Staff generally just want to get job done w/o hospitality at all. Saving grace is house keeping, those ladies are just lovely and try their best. Hope younger reception, lounge and breakfast staffs can learn from them.

I expected something different from the Fairmont, but the stay was something like I experience from Ibis. Quite disappointing, no help with the luggage even though they saw I was struggling with loading bags and indifferent staff. Issues with the bill as we decided to extend the stay and subsequently had two bookings. Had to point out issues in the room (light switches were malfunctioning), safety deposit box was not fixed in place and also malfunctioning, had to ask housekeeping to replace body cleanser and finally, inconsistent refills of nespresso capsules.
