When we checked in the butler offered an upgrade to a a suite, which we accepted. Then he told us that suite wasn't ready, but another, better suite was available immediately for an additional amount. That's known in the US as bait-and-switch. When we finally got to the suite the carpet was worn, stained, and had what appeared to be cigarette burns. That's not the way to run a 5 star hotel.

Your comments regarding the room allocation process during check-in are taken very seriously. Allow us to assure you that it is never our intention to create any impression of miscommunication or pressure when offering room options or upgrades. We regret that the explanation provided at the time may not have been clear or properly managed. We are also truly disappointed to hear about your observations concerning the condition of the suite assigned to you. The cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of our rooms are fundamental priorities, and what you describe regarding the carpet condition is not reflective of our usual standards. Please accept our sincere apologies for this lapse in quality. Your feedback has been shared with our Front Office and Housekeeping teams for immediate review and corrective action, including reinforcement of inspection procedures and refurbishment planning where needed.
