Lovely hotel and facilities, sadly the room service was terrible , It took an hour to receive a pizza , the following morning , S request for new cups for breakfast tea , never turned up ! Gave up in the end , As the phone just rings and rings , come on Fairmont sort out the staff situation

4th visit in 3 years and can honestly say say I would hesitate to book again Started when we arrived no doormen to assist with bags which my wife was carrying due to me parking the car our guests were also in the same predicament. We were early to check in so went to bar as a group and sat down. Waitress approached and we ordered drinks tried to pay for drinks but she wouldn’t take card insisted she needed a room number which we did not have. Drinks arrived and by this point our friends had received a call from reception that their room was ready so drinks were allocated to their room As we sat and waited for our room to be released another waitress approached asking us why the table was so dry ? Why we weren’t ordering more drinks ? This put one of our party on edge as she was put off by this remark. The waitress then asked how many nights we were staying? When we replied just the one she immediately said why not more ? Which surprised us but at this point she moved off to deal with a group of golfers who had just come in. We were surprised at interaction and tried to explain it away as we have never in the 3 years we have visited your hotel had that kind of interaction with staff. We then got our room after another hour which I realise was our mistake for arriving prior to check in at 4pm. We then left the hotel to visit St Andrews and after dinner in town we returned and decided to have drinks in the sports bar. We signed for drinks on one of the rooms and sat down about 30 min later the barman approached us saying we had not paid for drinks but when we assured him we had and my friend had signed the receipt he shot off and we watched him approach other tables because he could not remember who had actually ordered the drinks , he eventually found them he was fairly abrupt and it would have been good manners or polite if he had returned and said something like sorry for confusion and bothering you i sorted the issue. After this we left the bar and retired for the night . In the morning we were checking out my wife and her friend were at the entrance waiting for us to bring the cars around again there were no porter or doormen outside. At this point a young woman was attempting to to get 3 rather large suitcases into a taxi but not one member of staff was there to assist her or any other guests! At this point we went to the clubhouse down at the course as our friends had not been round it at this point I had a general discussion with the starter of the course and found him engaging very pleasant and delivered the kind of interaction I would expect from a 5 star resort. Having been voted by this we decided to have coffee and teas in the restaurant and a very pleasant and engaging young man served us and again had the kind of positive interaction which I would expect fro the Fairmont. My wife commented that he should be training the hotel staff on how to properly interact with customers Overall great resort great location golf staff great hotel staff not! Hopefully you will see this as constructive criticism and an opportunity to undertake training of staff to better represent the brand as it should be your staff are letting you down

Overall We really enjoyed our stay and the staff very friendly. A couple of minor points just by way of general feedback At dinner we ordered bread but never came Had to ask for spoon for my soup In the pool area there seemed lots of beds taken but no one on them - not sure if monitored as no attendant was visible throughout the hour i spent there. Surprised bottle of water drank in room was charged for as thought if lying out would have been complimentary. Breakfast was lovely choices but cooked food from buffet was not very hot.

It is a wonderful hotel with spectacular location. However my husband left his AirPods in our room and despite showing reception the location of them on our app we were constantly dismissed. We have yet to receive them and our app still shows they are in the hotel. A disappointing experience overall as a result

Very nice hotel. Air conditioning seemed to be controlled by Hotel versus guest room controller; room was too warm. The bar in the Sports bar not open at night; had to order from lobby bar.

I had a wonderful day. They had two good restaurants at the hotel. They had a area that you could eat that was on the water. The view is spectacular. Easy to get to town with a little tram. The town was beautiful.

Stay was very disappointing. Room not made up by 3:30 pm. Front desk asked if I wanted it done, had we requested it. Then room amenities forgotten (no teabags nor milk or biscuits. Had to request from housekeeping who then had to ask front desk again to help. Had room with door to adjoining room, both doors left unlocked, had to request they were locked. Then requested pancakes at blast with no bacon, as one of the party was vegetarian. Dish arrived with bacon on the side of the same plate. Really poor for £1000, 2 night stay. I am a Titaniun Elite Marriott member, really poor experience from Fairmont property.
