First room offered had a strong foul odour and badly stained carpet. Replacement room was OK (ish). However, the bathroom was in desperate need of upgrade. Huge disruption of sleep from a group of louts having a shouting party in a nearby room in the early hours. Only positive was breakfast and the staff at breakfast. Would not return or recommend. Nearby Premier Inn far superior.

Room cold, radiator not working properly, had to get portable heater from reception which was being used by receptionist. Duvet cover ripped, net curtains dirty and with holes. Room very tired looking, needs refurbished. Poor selection of food for dinner on the one page menu, not the full menu as it used to be, food of poor quality. Breakfast a shambles, no yoghurt selection, poor selection of fruits, bread for toast dry, food on hot plates was running out, some empty, cook bringing food out in drabs and he was not pleasant, breakfast was so bad we never went down the next day for breakfast. Very disappointed as we have used this hotel a few times before and we were happy, has went down hill big time and can’t see us using Perth mercure in the future.

I emailed a complaint last week and no one bothered to respond. Please see below: Hello, Unfortunately, we didn’t have a pleasant stay at Mercure Perth on Tuesday 14th January. We stopped to break up a long car journey from Shetland and the minute we got to our room, there was a workman in there fixing the furniture. We had to wait in the corridor for him to finish. Then, we were disturbed not once, but twice - by workmen wanting to check and then replace the fire detector. I do not know why you gave us a substandard room that needed repairs and checks - the stay cost approximately £90 and it was a bit disrespectful to offer a room that wasn’t ready to be occupied. We ended up checking out and completed our stay in another hotel. It is such a shame as we both travel for work and pass through Perth frequently but we cannot recommend the Mercure Perth after this experience. Yours sincerely, Jennifer

Effortless check in and out by Stephanie, very friendly and knowledgeable, made us feel really welcome. Room is of the standard we expected, comfy and spacious. Dining room staff very friendly and helpful, food was alright, although the dining room together with the lounge area was cold.

Function in hotel spoiled our stay. Loud music "racket" started 8pm finished 12.30am People shouting and singing in the last half hour made it worst.

Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed, bath with shower over. Location is central with easy access to city centre. The foyer and bar are in good condition with the Mill Lade flowing through the reception area. Out with the reception area the decor is bringing to look tired. Excellent breakfast. All in all a very pleasant stay and will go back.
