Small room, but otherwise excellent facilities

We’ve stayed in many Ibis hotels, usually the budget size, and this was by far the best one that we have stayed in. Sure, the room was small, and there wasn’t enough storage for our bags (had to leave them on the floor), but the breakfast was excellent (including hot food and healthy options); there’s a gym (5 euros charge); lots of space downstairs for the bar, snooker, soft chairs, and working areas; easy flat walk into town; canal out the back with a 1.25km loop for running; and right next to the train station (Dampoort) and FlixBus stop. The building seems pretty new and consequently everything was squeaky clean.

It’s been a great experience! The people were very welcoming and kind, the hotel is cozy. It’s very close to bus station Dampoort which busses takes you into the city centre in 10 minutes or less. It’s affordable and it was very clean!

We knew this was an Ibis Budget, but were very disappointed to find our double bed room so small that the bed was hip against the wall on one side. I asked for a room where we could walk round the bed, even offering to pay fort an upgrade, but apparently all double rooms were the same. Reception were keen top help us, and eventually offered us a room designed for a disabled person. This room was much bigger and satisfactory, though rather dark. On the positive side, the bar and eating area were very pleasant, breakfast very good, and staff generally helpful and friendly - although the barmaid kept disappearing for long periods, leaving customers waiting to be served. Overall this was not as good as our usual Ibis experience.
