We had stayed in an IBIS hotel just a few days earlier and were really impressed with the cleanliness and hygiene measures in place. We expected the same from this hotel but were very disappointed. When we arrived, we were surprised to see people in the lobby drinking near the check in, without masks of course. I had checked in on line to speed things up but I still had to sign some form with a grubby pen. The room itself was not very clean (stained carpet, dead insects on the window sill) and looked like it had had a hard life. The door and windows were difficult to open. The waitress in the breakfast room was very pleasant but I was appalled to see she didn't wear her mask over her nose. We were relieved to leave.

Despite checking in on line I still had to sign a form on arrival with a not very hygienic looking pen. I was surprised to see customers in the reception area without masks. They should be encouraged to enjoy their drinks elsewhere. Even more worrying, the waitress in the restaurant only partially wore a mask over her mouth, not her nose. The rooms were "tired" looking with stained carpets, and not particularly clean. It was hard to open the doors and windows due to mis-use. We used the stairs in preference to the lift and I'd like to think the door handles were disinfected regularly (but I doubt it).

. Everything was to expectations. Clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Food is very good. They should do something about this egg boiling contraption. It takes too long and useless when it is busy.

Fine and rather quiet location. I was on my bike and the use of the garage for motor bikes in included. Rooms clean and fine, restaurant serves good food but to me was rather uninspiring in the way it looks. Breakfast was good. Certainly good for a stop-over.

Very bad, Staff totally disinterested. Receptionist to busy looking into her computer rather than acknowledging guests. Furniture in room is chipped, bits of ceiling paper hanging/peeling off. Silicone in bathroom is dirty -rusty. Breakfast was terrible. 9.15 am - there was only one table occupied when we went in. Attendant did not acknowledge us. Kept on clearing his tables. Had to set our own table. No fruit, no milk, no jam - had to ask for things to be brought out. Egg boiler did not have enough water in. Egg still raw after 7 minutes. The only friendly person was the Chamber maid. wished us a good day and a good trip.

Check in fine. Although 20 centimes to pay for extra tax!. Room small. Outside of door clearly need of painting as very chipped. Only one hand towel and one shower towel for two people. Bed hard. Breakfast was satisfactory but though takenat 8.30am no topping up had been down.Places were laid for only one person. Had to ask for cereal and twice for cold milk. Overall disappointment.

We are amazed that this is an Ibis Styles. It felt more like an Ibis Budget. The rooms were tired and in need of attention (peeling paintwork), skirting boards falling off, door wouldn’t open (actually dangerous) and staff were either absent or unhelpful. When the alarm of the neighbouring McDonalds went off at 6am, no one cared or tried to help.

Really, really disappointing - our family were put in a room that you had already identified as a problem room because of a heavy smoker

Your staff already knew that a smoker had been in Room 423 and that the room was therefore in a bad state. Because of the stench, it wasn't fit for sleeping in and shouldn't have been occupied until the problem had been addressed, especially by a family with two young children. I understand that people sometimes ignore the non-smoking signs and that this issue can happen accidentally but in this situation, the staff knew as they said so when we were checking out. It's shocking, to be honest.

Great hotel but previous occupants must have chain-smoked in our room

This hotel is great and the front-office staff are really helpful. Unfortunately, we realised immediately that a heavy smoker had been in our room before us. It was very late at night, the children were extremely tired and the hotel seemed full so we didn't want to disturb staff to find us another room. We forewarned the front-office staff when checking out only to find that they already knew that the room was in that state before they put us in there as a member of management staff had already registered their concern. That was really disappointing, to be honest, especially as it was obvious that our booking included children. The hotel is non-smoking but some occupants ignore that. So I would strongly advise that you phone ahead and check that the room is definitely smoke-free before you arrive. Obviously, this is also my fault as I should have raised my concern when we entered the room.

Everything looks tired. The room had skirting boards hanging off, pool area had lots of weeds growing out of poorly maintained surrounding area. Only 3 old tired looking plastic sun loungers. Breakfast was terrible- very limited choice. Croissants and pan de chocolate were burnt. Fruit was old and stale-shrivelled skin on apples. Only positive- amazingly comfortable bed.

We arrived at 4am due to delays with the Euro tunnel so really needed to get to sleep. We were told there were no keys and no reservation. However I had an email confirmation and had checked in online. Also when the attendant checked the system we were booked. He insisted there weren’t any keys or rooms available for a family. We had booked for 4 people but could only have a room with 1 double bed he said.

Hotel was extremely disappointing. It is way overpriced and should be classified as a budget hotel. We stayed in a Mercure hotel the night before arrival and it was a world apart from this hotel. Management desperately need to get their act in order, both from the icy reception at the Reception desk to the absolutely filthy (and I choose my words carefully) carpet in the dining area, where at breakfast time nobody was available to replenish the empty dishes (even after opening the kitchen door and calling out for someone to come and help. Others did the same but also to no effect)) , and we subsequently had to go to Reception where the lady there came to help - even clearing the blocked orange juice maker! She was not amused when ultimately a young man did appear and she gave him a telling off -wagging her finger at him. The décor desperately needs looking at with big areas of paint missing from some bedroom doors. (Have a look at room 321 door. Big scratches on the lift doors (3rd floor) together with big black mark on the corridor wall. The wheelchair platform at the bottom of the steps at ground floor level (just behind Reception) is a real hazard to guests (one gentleman in front of me tripped over it) and is not meant to be left open and flat on the ground (taking up about half the stair width) as it can be folded up when not in use to prevent it being a hazard. Our bedroom door had been jemmied open at some time or other with the lock receiver absolutely mangled. Don't open your mouth in the pool as dead flies abound -and the occasional dead wasp!! The Tennis courts have weeds 25cm high growing right in the middle of the court (higher at the perimeter) and all the fencing looks as if it could fall down anytime, with a notice that should be read horizontally hanging vertically by one screw! The boules course is completely taken over by weeds -wont be long before it will be a grass court!! Any good points? The evening meal was good value for the price. Would we stay again or recommend it? Definitely not.
