I stayed at Sofitel City Centre Singapore and checked in on 8 August at around 4pm. We had a total of 6 rooms, including a complimentary room. Unfortunately, only 2 rooms were ready upon our arrival, and the complimentary room was not available either. This was particularly disappointing because I was getting married at the hotel’s ballroom the following day. There were many arrangements and preparations that needed to be settled before the wedding, and having to wait for the rooms significantly affected our schedule. As a result, some of the preparations had to be rushed, which added unnecessary stress on what was supposed to be a happy and joyable day. We had to repeatedly follow up and call the reception regarding the remaining rooms. It was only around 6pm, approximately 2 hours after our arrival, that all the remaining rooms were available. I found this unacceptable, especially since the official check-in time is 3pm and we arrived at around 4pm. Considering the previous check-out time is 12pm, there should have been sufficient time for the rooms to be cleaned and prepared. This was also a group booking of 6 rooms, so I would have expected the hotel to have anticipated and coordinated the room readiness in advance. The hotel itself is nice, the location is convenient, and the overall property is beautiful. However, the check-in experience was extremely disappointing and fell short of what I would expect from a 5-star hotel, especially when I was holding my wedding at the venue. I hope the management can seriously look into the coordination between the front desk and housekeeping, particularly for guests who are holding important events at the hotel. A smoother and more organised check-in process would have made a significant difference to our experience.
