I am a frequent traveler who spent around 150 nights yearly around properties within the standard of Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara and with deep regret I must be honest and say that I was deeply disappointed with my stay there. Before I proceed further, I want to clarify that I am a lowly silver member of ALL and stayed there as a couple because we to survey the service level and the wedding hall for our upcoming wedding. Despite sending few messages that we are staying there to celebrate our engagement, there was no welcome amenities at all or even a small upgrade given to us. Even a small note would be nice. Next, the breakfast, which we paid extra on top of the room rate, feel very underwhelming. It was also clear that it was understaffed during breakfast as no one was manning the counter and quite a lot of tables were left uncleared. Despite that, we decided to try the offerings at Le Bar and again were left disappointed. We ordered the signature Hibiscus Cappuccino (two cups, mind you) and we believe you should retrained your staff on how to make a decent cup of coffee. Decent would be enough. But, the pastry and cake were very good. Kudos to your pastry kitchen. We also hold a dinner with our close friends at Nizza. The service from Dwi, Wan and Q were outstanding. The pasta was superb but the pizza is mediocre at best. Again, the warmth of service from Dwi was the highlight of the night. We ordered In Room Dining every night, yet we need to make several calls to be answered. On one specific night, we were only answered on the sixth (6th) call and that was after we called the FO to inform that we cannot get through the IRD call. The most unfortunate incident was when we requested for a slightly (just an hour or so would be fine) late check out, which supposed to be at 12PM, but we were straight denied without even being looked at. This is very insulting and not a proper service standard of a so called five star property nor a Sofitel brand standard. Last but not least, the practice of pressuring the guests to write a review with names mentioned (I have proof of this) is against the basic integrity standard especially in the hospitality industry. I will document this and reveal this to the public when I have some free time soon. As for the wedding halls survey? Let's forget it. I hope everyone can stay clear of this hotel.
