Although we have stayed here many times before, we hadn't been here since the upgrade to the bar area, which we liked. As always, helpful friendly staff & the hotel is centrally located, so ideal for walking to most areas of Bristol. One disappointment - a plate of food from a room service delivery was left in the hallway for 3 nights & still there when we left. Surely, any member of staff could have collected this!

The lifts were out of order and we were not notified in advance despite being an Accor member and paying through the Accor booking team. There was no offer of help with bags at check in. Our room was 2nd floor which in reality was 3rd.. The hotel entrance feels like a side entrance and the location of lifts and stairs does feels like the tradesman entrance. Our room was a bit tired but nice and spacious with good river views. There were cracked floor tiles in the bathroom and evidence of a leak from the room above. Breakfast was tasty and of good quality but finished at 10am at the weekend which felt a bit early. Overall the hotel feels like it is ready for a refresh and has the potential to be so much better.

Hotel was well located, and room was clean. But lift was broken, no advance notice given (room on 5th floor). Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, and room needed modernising - no USB ports, old TV, gloomy.

I expected more from the hotel. The elevators where not working and the furniture from the room was quite old. The room and bathroom wasn't clean enough. There were cobwebs behind the bathroom doors and a piece of paper in the floor from the day I got in the room till I left. The room was not cleaned while I was there, just the bed was made and towels replaced. The location was very good, but that was pretty much it.

for the price it wasn’t up to standard. A few things were the elevator not working should have resulted in a discount. The towels were quite rough and need to be replaced. The curtain didn’t close fully letting a bit of light in. I called reception a few times and there was no answer. There was some rubbish in the hallway that remained for 2 days (empty liquor bottles). For this price I wouldn’t stay again.

it’s pretty unacceptable that the lift still isn’t working and a big minus point. won’t be staying again until it’s fixed.

Booked a group in of at least 10 rooms - they all made their own booking on my recommendation. All were advised that the lift was out of order what do we want to do as their are 8 floors of rooms. This news came a short space of time before arriving which in itself is good customer care but didn't allow us to get early bird booking rates at other hotels so by default we said no problem and made quite a joke about it i.e. adding a lot of steps to your fit-bit etc. Help was on hand to take luggage to your room so I was told, I personally made my own arrangements. But then, one of my guests had a problem with the shower in their room. It would either freeze you with cold water or strip your skin off the bone with scalding hot water. No inbetween. Rather than move the guest to another room that had working facilitities, the guest endured 3 days of promises that it would be fixed soon. Not good enough and I am now concious of this when I come to book next time for the group. I am sure it is a technicality but it should have been resolved from the begining and not placated with broken promises. Shoddy to say the least. Other than that, and because of that, my feelings towards the Mercure Brigstow Bristol are somewhat along the lines of 'lets look at other properties first' as there are other hotels around the area. This experience is testing my brand loyalty. Let's see how it is resolved after we have all checked out and gone home.

The lift was out of order during our stay but we had been notified of this well in advance so had the opportunity to change our booking if necessary. We chose to stay. We were told we were on the 3rd floor which is actually the 4th as there is a mezzanine level which is actually the first level when going up stairs. Our room, which was a twin, was well appointed and although we were at the back of the hotel not overlooking the water at the front this was fine. We had a disappointing experience in the restaurant for our evening meal on our last stay but this was not related to the room.

Booked as it’s a central hotel and we would be coming and going a lot shopping/eating and drinks out etc on arrival we were told the room we booked was on the sixth floor and there was no lift in operation and we can downgrade our room to a lower floor if we like! Having booked the best room I was very disappointed as it was an anniversary and was not interested in a basic option So having to make the six flights every time we came and went really ruined the experience No compensation was offered not even a free drink at the bar Very poor customer service

Arrived and was told no lifts working so had to walk to 4th floor several times with an arthritic knee. Bedroom very warm even with temp turned down. Builders woke us up at 7. Not the best to be honest.

This is by far the cleanest and best managed of all the Mercure hotels that Bristol offers. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the reception staff are friendly, informative and always really positive. The hotel decor is brilliant too, having stayed in one of the premium rooms I would highly recommend the upgrade. Probably the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time also. The negatives are few. During my stay, the lifts did not work. Climbing up 14 flights of stairs to a hotel room is no easy feat. There were a few attention to detail maintenance issues, such as fixtures becoming loose. Inevitable with time but a quite tighten would really finish off the presentation. Overall, definitely a place I shall stay again, I’m looking forward to trying different room types, plus the new lifts!

Lifts not working. No bottled water or biscuits in the bedroom. Bathroom tired - not changed for more than 20 years.

My wife and I had a 2 night break and thought the facilities in the hotel were just right for our stay. We wanted the freedom to come and go as we pleased; nice surroundings; comfortable room and somewhere where we could walk to explore the city. We felt that we had all these things. The lift was out of order and we had a phone call in advance to check if we needed support with that. We were allocated a room on the first floor which was great as a medical condition would make any more flights difficult for me. Staff offered to help with luggage and were very friendly and welcoming.
