Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but there were a couple of areas where the experience could be improved. At check-in, I was asked whether I would like the room serviced the following day, and I said yes. While the towels were replaced, the bins were emptied and the toilet paper was neatly folded, the beds were not made. I found this disappointing, as I would have expected a serviced room to include making the beds. Another issue was with the complimentary drink voucher. The terms of the voucher were not explained at check-in. When we ordered our drinks and presented the voucher, we were told by the bartender that it could only be used for drinks on the Happy Hour menu. This was quite embarrassing, as we were unaware of this restriction. It would be helpful if the conditions of the voucher were clearly explained at check-in to avoid any confusion or awkwardness for guests.

Stayed at the Novotel Geelong on several occasions, however this time was quite disappointing. The location is excellent, and the restaurant was great. However, we weren’t impressed with the cleanliness of our room. The shower was moldy, the part where you step into the shower appeared as though it hadn’t been cleaned for sometime. When we rinsed it with the sprayer there was a build up of grime that washed straight out of the grout. The area around the fridge had spills of food/liquid all over it. Then the bed was extremely disappointing. It was two singles put together to make a king, however the two mattresses were different heights, and generally just very uncomfortable beds. We left our 3 night stay with sore backs, so wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re wanting a comfortable nights sleep. Hopefully the new tower with have a higher standard.
