Great experience! The resort is a true oasis of peace with wonderful caring team. The public area and rooms are both good to relax and recharge. I personally also really enjoyed the local sources healthy breakfast options - completing a perfect stay. The hotel is only 15 mins walk away from all major sights. Thank you!

The services described on the hotel's website as "Extraordinary and Luxurious" are not (simple example: outdated toilets like they were more than 20 or 30 years ago).

Je vous remercie sincèrement pour votre retour concernant votre séjour au Sofitel Luang Prabang, et je tiens à vous présenter nos excuses pour les désagréments rencontrés, notamment en ce qui concerne le tarif appliqué. Permettez-moi d’apporter une précision : votre réservation portait sur une villa avec piscine privative, durant une période particulièrement chargée, non seulement pour le Sofitel mais également pour les autres établissements de la région. Je partage pleinement vos observations sur les autres points évoqués dans votre commentaire, notamment l’état de la villa, les équipements de la salle de bain, la qualité de la climatisation, ainsi que notre petit-déjeuner, qui mérite effectivement d’être amélioré. Malheureusement, j’étais retenu par une autre obligation professionnelle, ce qui ne m’a pas permis de vous rencontrer ni de vous informer directement que, oui, nous prévoyons des rénovations pour les hôtels Sofitel et MGallery 3 Nagas. Ces travaux se dérouleront en plusieurs phases. Nous avons récemment rénové notre piscine, et le reste des rénovations débutera à la mi-avril l’année prochaine. Étant situés sur un site classé par l’UNESCO, l’obtention des autorisations requiert du temps et une coordination rigoureuse avec les autorités compétentes. Encore une fois, je tiens à vous présenter mes excuses personnelles pour les désagréments rencontrés durant votre séjour. Et si vous me le permettez, j’aimerais vous offrir une nuit au Sofitel une fois nos rénovations achevées, afin que vous puissiez découvrir nos nouvelles chambres et vivre pleinement l’expérience que nous souhaitons offrir à chacun de nos hôtes. Huge disappointment

Immediately after a wonderful stay at the Sofitel in Hanoi (a luxurious "grand premium" room with club service at €612 per day), we were very disappointed by the one in Luang Prabang. Their description of our room as a "refined villa decorated with antiques," at a higher price (€623 per night, ridiculous!), did not correspond to reality: a "normal" bathroom with one sink instead of two marble ones in Hanoi, a toilet that looked like it was 20 years ago, "low-end" and ineffective air conditioning (probably Chinese), and a "basic" breakfast buffet. The beautiful pool and garden can be found much cheaper elsewhere. As experienced (74 years old) and loyal Sofitel customers (All Members), this is a huge disappointment. If we return to Luang Prabang, we will not stay at this hotel unless it undergoes a major renovation. P Fustier

This is a nice Sofitel. Was a bit surprised they had my name wrong on the reservation, with the name of the booking company representative instead of me. They never really did correct that, including referring to me once again as “Michael” in this email. Shuttle service was very good, but ending it at 9:30pm seems a bit early for some of the nicer restaurants in the town. Restaurant was just okay…not as much French influence as most Sofitels we have visited, especially the very limited wine list. Pool area nice, although water a bit on the cold side. Overall, a very very good Sofitel, but just a small step down from some other Sofitels we have visited such as Hanoi and Strasbourg. Would also be nice if I could have gotten at least some loyalty points for the 4-night booking, even though the hotel was booked as part of our 26-day Far East visit by a high-end travel agency.
