stayed weekend before christmas, staff on the friday were friendly and polite, staff over the weekend were rude and very unhelpful. when we arrived we couldn't access our room due to a software issue with the room cards, meaning any time we wanted access to our room we had to get reception to escort us and open the door. on the first morning we left to visit the sites, i had left some cash on the side by mistake { couldn't get back into my room due to the card not working} waited in reception but due to one staff member dealing another guest the staff on reception couldn't take us to our room. we explained why we wanted to go back to the room and the staff member assured us it will be fine and no one can access the room. we returned that afternoon to find the money gone and room cleaned. when i went to reception, i explained everything and was told by the new staff member that the cleaners take money left out and it was my fault, this wasn't change left out it was a couple of notes. was then told the cleaner had gone home and wont be back till Monday. they would contact me. Still haven't heard from the hotel.

Disappointing would be the word to describe my stay, have traveled many times to Edinburgh, never stayed at this hotel , my booking was done via voyage prive, fro a weekend, include in the package was a privilege room, bed and breakfast and bottle of Prosecco on arrival , we checked in on room 216 and there was no Prosecco, got changed and noticed that the door that closes the bathroom toilet and also wardrobe is suspended on runners, the door had come out of the runners and it was just not closing at all , also was dangerous as if it was to come out of the frame it would fall on to of you ,we noticed that the whole locking mechanism had been removed from the door frame , what indicated that this was a fault that was known to the hotel , went out and reported the fact that no Prosecco was provided, they told us to contact who we booked the room with , we did and they have apologised for the poor service of the hotel ,and also reported the fault with the door , they called maintenance and we left the hotel. We came back and the door had been put back in place, but the moment we went to open it , again came out of the runners and same fault occurred. Went down to reception and spoke to another person , they said they would call maintenance. I said that maintenance had already been out and fixed the door but the moment you use it comes out of alignment creating a safety issue , also not been able to close the toilet door what it truly ludicrous! We requested to be moved to another privilege room ,they offer us a twin, we are a couple, so obviously said no , I am not going on a weekend away to sleep in separate beds, they then offered another room 007 , not privilege one, we had a look and to our surprise the rooms are totally identical! Apparently the only difference is they give you bathrobes and sleepers and a coffee machine ???? We had to ask reception to bring our bathrobes and sleepers that obviously we had pay for, they did , then later on , while I was already on my pijamas watching tv I realised that because I had unpack when I got to 216 I left my shampoo and conditioner there , I rang the reception desk to ask to send someone for it , or shall I say I tried to ring as the phone in 007 did not work at all! Had to go to reception on my pijamas to ask them to bring my shampoo and conditioner and report that the phone did not work! The staff we spoke to when we reported the dangerous fault in 216 when I told them you should not be renting that room until that fault is fixed, and you are aware of such fault as the whole locking mechanism has been removed from the door , they had the audacity to tell us we remove them from all doors just in case people lock themselves in ! I said no you don’t , as in room 007 is in , and shown him photos of both locks on my phone! The next day , funnily enough after they did the room the phone disappeared from room 007. Breakfast is ok, but nothing espectacular and location is a bit out of the way , imo there are much better hotels in Edinburgh in that price range to stay , it was very bad for the price payed to be honest. Do not recommend and certainly would not stay ever again.

We chose to stay at this hotel for a two night stay whilst visiting Edinburgh. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to Princess Street which is great if you don’t want to be directly in the center and don’t mind walking. The hotel was clean and the room had just the essentials needed. The only downfall to the room was that we felt the shower wasn’t very powerful but otherwise it did the job. We had breakfast included and the selection was great with cold and hot drinks as well as cold and hot breakfast options. Definitely worth including breakfast as it set us up for the day. Overall a great hotel and would definitely recommend.

Good but not the best for the price being paid.

The hotel location and access to public transport was great! Rooms were good, however maintenance of the room could have been better. The biggest problems were hotel keycard access to room wasn't working for the 3 nights we stayed there. Someone had to come up with us every time we left our room and needed to go back. That is a big hassle not to just us as guests, but also, to the staff. Secondly, WIFI access was very poor throughout our time of staying at this hotel. I would say its okay to stay here for a bit but if improvements are not made to these key things, it is not worth it.
