Worst break ever

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

This hotel had no heating coldest time of the year. Asked for heater only to be told they were all gone. Room was so cold you could see your breath. My granddaughter went to Edinburgh with her partner for a well earned break. They should have been moved to another hotel at the hotel’s expense or heaters brought in. Absolute disgrace 😡

No heating in the room in coldest night of the year!!

No heating in the room, it’s freezing - I can see my breath! Minus temperatures outside. Asked for a portable heater but they just offered an extra duvet!! There was also a hair in my breakfast! Would not return, would not recommend!!

Not a 4-star hotel

Giulio T TripAdvisor review

I want to start by saying the staff was helpful and kind, but the hotel is defiintely in bad shape. After I checked-in I was assign room 411. Upon inspection I found out thar there was no place to hang my clothes: the rail and hangers were missing. I went downstairs to told reception and I was given another room: 210. Although probably the same size, it looked smaller and the was a smell like it hadn't been used in a while, which is fair enough if it was kept as a "spare" room. I didn't have time to check the room because I was late, but I did notice a Henry hoover out in the corridor. I thought they may have used it to clean the room and thought nothing of it. When I came back late afternoon, I noticed that there was water coming up from the floor in the bathroom. Not much, but just enough to wet my socks. It was most definitely coming up while walking on it, so there was definitely some standing water underneath the boards. I complained again, and they moved me to room 205. The first night was fine, but in the morning I noticed, as many other has in these reviews, that the heating was broken. I was lucky the weather wasn't that cold (I know, December in Edinburgh, but it wasn't that cold, honestly) and the room was still ok. Still I mentioned it to the staff at reception in the morning on my way out. And when I came back in the afternoon it had indeed been fixed. But alas, later that evening, when I came back after dinner, it was broken again. Oh, and the Hnery hoover? It has been left in the corridor for the whole 3 days I was there. I don't know what's going on with this hotel but it's most definitely not a 4-star hotel.

Mariafedis A. Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

We had to request basic facilities—such as a clothes-hanging pole, bath soap, and sufficient towels for the number of guests—that were included in the hotel services but not provided upon check-in. Additionally, we needed to remind the hotel and housekeeping to clean our room on the second day. The communal restroom is not cleaned regularly, and most sinks are out of order.

Dear Mariafedis A., Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the provision of basic amenities and the cleanliness of your room and communal areas. It is our standard to ensure that all necessary items are available upon check-in and that housekeeping maintains a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Your comments will be reviewed with our team to enhance our service delivery in the future. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. We appreciate your input. Best regards, Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket Hotel
