A Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

We stayed for one night in a privilege room. Overall, the room was good, except a few tiny things like the paint coming off in the bathroom, the broken shelf and the speaker wasn't working. But these things didn't bother us that much, just an observation. The only thing that bothered us was the broken shower door, as the entire floor was flooded. The dinner we had was delicious, however it was sooo oily that our pasta was dripping wet, covered in oil. It was ruining the flavour. More restaurant staff should've been called in for work that night because the only barman was clearly struggling to serve the entire dinner alone. The breakfast was amazing, loved it. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely choose to stay there again, if needed.

It was my first time in Riga and it was an excellent experience. The hotel is in a good location. All amenities you might need are nearby. I was surprised though that they needed a deposit of 50 euros. Not sure why. I have traveled around the world and being an ACCOR member, this was strange. I had never had this before.

I come to Riga a lot and typically I stay with Ibis for the location (closer to the transportations). This time, I chose Mercure just to have a small change. I arrived quite late, and found that the check-in desk is very very slow. I made a mistake with the reservation (1 person instead of 2) and I asked the reception to pay for the difference, which apparently was twice the price on the website. It was not a lot of money, but a little bit annoying since I am a member and I stay with Accor hotels a lot. Another weird thing is the deposit. This is the first time I was asked for a 50 EUR deposit for the room. I was puzzled, but later learned of the minibar. I noticed that bottled waters on the coffee/tea station was not actually free and were part of mini-bar, so I suppose the hotel want to make sure that they were properly charged later. Also, I have stated that my journey was for business that exempt me from tourist tax. I did not enjoy having to ask the staff to take it out as I have written it down clearly on my reservation. I thoroughly appreciate the upgrade, though, which improved the hiccup in the reception. My room (privilege lux is written on the door) was really comfortable. The hot water worked perfectly, and the shower had a great water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and suitable for us (an actual king size bed, not 2 single beds). The only complaint I have was the thermostat that did not seem to do anything. We were in Riga during the extreme cold of January 2024 and we actually felt the cold from the glass window throughout our stay. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. Overall, no complaint and I would definitely consider a return.
