Located in the heart of Rīga and housed in a beautiful 1901 Art Nouveau building our hotel is 13 km from the Riga International Airport. Dear Lukasz, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that requesting a credit card at check-in is a standard procedure followed by many hotels. The card details are securely stored and may only be used for incidentals or any outstanding charges, such as minibar consumption, parking fees, smoking in non-smoking rooms, or if a guest departs without settling the final bill. As an alternative, guests may choose to leave a refundable security deposit of EUR 50 instead of providing a credit card. Regarding the parking, the exit system requires guests to activate their parking ticket at the reception each time before leaving. Once activated, the ticket can be scanned at the barrier to exit. This procedure is in place to ensure that only authorized vehicles use the hotel's private parking facilities. We are also sorry to read your comments regarding cleanliness. This is certainly not the standard we strive to provide, and your feedback has been shared with the relevant department for review. Mercure Riga was the last hotel we stayed after four days travelling by rail from the Netherlands. My daughter has celiac disease and needs to follow a glutenfree diet. All hotels we stayed catered well for glutenfree breakfast options (two other accor hotels, one german budget chain). Mercure Riga was the only one that could not. The only glutenfree option where rice crackers placed between all the breads, covered by other bread crums. In the end we had to bring our own glutenfree bread from the safety reserve in our luggage. Fortunately one staff member did manage to bring a new jar of nutella, not yet cross-contaminated. There were also a few other minor issues... also reported these at the front desk.
