Wonderful looking building in a great, quiet location in the Old Town of Riga, close to the Castle and Parliament buildings. Unfortunately, the hotel is undergoing a wholesale refurbishment and is effectively a building site with guests. The noise at check in as jackhammers were pounding away behind screens dismantling in the bar area was such that but was almost impossible to speak with staff. The corridors on our room floor were littered with areas screened by plastic bags and tape. The constant smell of paint and turpentine in the corridors was harsh and not what you want to experience when going to your room. The staff played the corporate "all facilities are available as advertised" card, but it's not really the case. It's unacceptable that none of this work was advertised on the hotel website where I made my booking, wasn't notified on the booking confirmation and was basically glossed over by staff onsite. Avoid until all the work is complete.

If you’re expecting the quality and experience typically associated with a Pullman hotel, you’ll likely be disappointed. Pullman Riga Old Town falls short in almost every way. The property is currently more a construction site than a five-star hotel. The entrance resembles that of a dodgy underground car park, which sets the tone for what’s to come. The reception area is tucked away in a dark corner, lacking the welcoming atmosphere you’d hope for. Staff interactions were hit or miss — you might be greeted warmly, or you might not be acknowledged at all, depending on the mood. You frequently meet construction workers in tracksuits in the corridors, adding to the unfinished, unpolished feel of the place. Although the room had been recently renovated, the layout featuring one of those impractical open bathroom concepts that compromises privacy and comfort. To be fair, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet enough to get a decent night’s sleep. But if you’re booking with the Pullman brand in mind, adjust your expectations. This property simply doesn’t live up to the name.

Bad paint smell upon arrival in lobby and corridors. Room 536 was OK but noise from heating/AV unit begind the wall was very noticeable. Breakfast was great, as always.
