Good location but no frills hotel

Location : very close to Brussels midi station (though there are maybe about 2 more hotels along the same stretch which is equally close). Walked back from Brussels grand square and was about a 30minute walk at a leisurely pace. Service : straight faced, wouldn't say they are rude but not yet exceptionally welcoming either. But they were kind enough to provide us 2 big umbrellas when we asked for it. They had a water filter downstairs for you to top up your water and it even gives carbonated water. Plus point. Room: basic, Aircon is non existent during winter months and yet it is too cold to keep the windows open all night. Furthermore the window opens out wide so concerned about the safety if I were to leave it open as well as our room is facing the main street.
