The place was cool, the lack of parking was unfortunate, but we used google translate for a long-term parking rate at the mall. The sheets were horrible/synthetic, plus the tub was way too high for showers! Staff was friendly - more English speaking staff would be great.

Biggest problem with hotel is how hot the rooms are. Air con is limited in how much you can control it and this time in 302 I found that the air con controller was completely broken (wheel was pushed into the unit and therefore inoperable). The pillows don't help as while comfortable (like marshmallows) the retain the heat. 302 has a balcony and door not window so I couldn't even open the window to cool the room. I have had similar problems though in other rooms too.

A bit disappointed with the service

I had arrived quite tired at the hotel on 19 March after a 14hrs flight and 3hrs of Train journey, only to realize that they do not provide even a bottle of water at the hotel. Thoroughly disappointed, I had to go outside and buy a bottle of water to drink. Secondly, when I went into the toilet, there were no Dental kit or toiletries provided. No moisturizing lotion too, to go with the dry weather at Valenciennes. The room size and bed were satisfactory. However due to the above mentioned facts I would think twice before considering to book again at Mercure.

But we have a water fountain available. Body gel is only available for our privilege rooms As for the toothbrush, we have it in reception, just ask Your satisfaction is our best reward.
