Mercure Bangkok Makkasan 4 stars

My experience during this stay was quite unpleasant. I was woken up early in the morning by the strong smell of fresh paint from a wall renovation in the building. The fumes came through the air vents and filled the room, causing irritation to my nose and even a headache. This completely ruined my rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, the staff were not able to provide much assistance.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff are kind and accommodating.

Check in is at the 8 floor and was friendly and fast. Room is ok has a comfortable bed, I checked in late so I have not used any facilities for the hotel. Breakfast at 08:00 was chaotic and very busy. It felt that no one was in charge as everybody was doing something but no coordination at all. Coffee machine was empty, some dishes were not refilled and a lot of tables still had not been cleared. A supervisor was missing who could tell dedicated staff that this morning you only clear tables and smile and give other staff other other jobs that needed to be done too and smile and say good morning to incoming guests. The atmosphere was not good! Staff were not smiling at all and not even say good morning expect at the door. If you have been before and know breakfast is like this you will skip breakfast and go somewhere else near where you need to be or even a coffee shop which costing the hotel revenue. If you need to take a taxi in the morning it can take at least 30 before a taxi shows up. If you can plan ahead it is a nice property not far from nightlife if you want that but without nightlife loudness. I will come back again.

I was appalled by the surrounding of the hotel and its location when I arrived. Out of so many trips and had stayed in multiple Accor hotels in Bangkok, I didn't expect a location that was so secluded, with zero convenient store, cafe, or any restaurant a typical tourist would have expected within walking distance. Nothing. Deserted. It's almost feeling stranded in a no man island. The road leading to the hotel was literally empty and poorly lit at night. The staff were great and friendly - that's truly the gem of the Thais. The concierge guy, Tae, and the reception manager, Pare and her staff, Ohm, were very welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay. The hotel does provide shuttle taxi to the nearest MRT, once an hour. While this overcomes the inconvenient part for guests, I wish the hotel would make the trip more frequent. Room was great - clean and the housekeeping was excellent. Kudos to the housekeeping lady who did her task so well and so fast. I was in 23rd floor. Breakfast was good with nice selection of foods. Again, despite the warmth hospitality from the hotel, I just couldn't sugarcoat the location but have to be frank to myself. And perhaps, for the other holidaymakers or family with children to look into the location. If you love to popping in and out of the hotel frequently, say for for a quick grab of snack in 7-E, or craving for a foot massage, a coffee, this hotel is not for you. You gotta be in your survival mode to stay here. Google street view it!

This is a well-appointed and modern property. Rooms are well designed and clean, and service is prompt, friendly and attentive. There is a pool, gym, bar and restaurant on-site. The hotel is not far from both an airport rail link and MRT train station, and a short motorbike away from the centre of town, but the immediate surrounds are otherwise a little lacking in amenity. Accor ALL status is well recognised through early checkin, late checkout, a welcome amenity, room upgrades, welcome drinks, and access to evening canapes and drinks. The staff were very helpful in helping me track down some items I had left in the room after checkout. For this level of servicing alone I'd be very happy to stay here again.
