We have stayed at this hotel several times previously, and on this occasion we were disappointed with one or two things. The situation in the bar during late evening on Thursday August 14th was not good - it was busy and rowdy, a little bit uncouth; bar staff were not coping well (with the exception here of Tom who was professional and doing his best but was at the end of his shift) Bar on Friday 15th was much pleasanter and service was what I would expect. Breakfast on Friday 15th - nobody at desk to greet us, some buffet items had not been replenished - it was after 9am - and nobody around to ask. Breakfast on Saturday 16th was much better and as I would expect. Our room was good, well presented and good standard. Would prefer to have walk in shower but it was not available.

Overall it was good, rooms clean as usual, staff welcoming and friendly. A lot of rooms weren't ready for check in at 3 which was odd - thankfully not ours as we were in an odd numbered room and it was the even numbers that weren't ready. I wouldn't have been happy if ours hadn't been ready. Food nice. The shower flooded the floor despite me not touching the head which was a bit annoying. And the lift is evil! On the 2nd floor particularly, but sometimes the first, it gives literally a few seconds to get in or out before it shuts on you!
