Ok but a bit tired

This hotel is situated on the outskirts of Chester. There is ample free parking outside but you have to register your car with reception. The reception area is modern and spacious. Our room was situated on the first floor in what seemed like an older part of the hotel. The room was very big but it was dated. It was mostly clean but there was mould around the windows. Beds were comfy. The bathroom was clean but dated. The shower didn’t work that well and when mentioned to staff they just said the hotel needed all new boilers and water equipment and the owners were reluctant to do it due to the cost. Our key cards stopped working one day but that was quickly sorted. The breakfast room was really nice and we got to sit in the area over looking the gardens. There was loads of choice at breakfast time and the majority was really nice, but the cured meats and cheeses were starting to go dry and curl up. We visited the leisure centre a couple of times and found this also quite dated. The changing rooms were ok, but the lockers were a bit rusty. Whilst we were in the pool water was freezing, as was the Jacuzzi. The sauna and steam rooms were ok but I don’t think they were working correctly either. Any staff encountered either in the hotel, breakfast room or leisure centre were lovely and did their best to help. The hotel does need some upgrading and money spent but front what I gather the company just aren’t willing to do it. We had an ok stay here but probably wouldn’t return.

OK At The Right Price

The hotel is on the outskirts of Chester with a large car park. It is a straight road into the centre of the city about 2 miles away. We were advised by the hotel that there is a park and ride bus that leaves every 15 minutes adjacent to the hotel. It cost £2.50 for a return ticket. We found all the staff to be very pleasant. I enjoyed the swimming pool. The room was a good size and fairly clean. The hotel does need updating in some areas.

Dear D A., Thank you for your review regarding your recent stay. I am sorry that you felt you had poor customer service from Accor. I can assure you that we have rigorous procedures regarding our room cleaning and the whole hotel which are monitored regularly, not only by ourselves but also from an external company, unfortunately with the weather becoming more clement the bite you received would have been from outside the hotel as we have plenty of trees on the grounds of the hotel, it is surprising that this was not mentioned to our team during your stay or indeed on check out. It is very disappointing to read and to see this has warranted such a low score. I do hope we can welcome you back very soon. Sincerely, Team Chester
