We booked a last-minute stay to take our poorly dog to the Animal Trust for emergency surgery and were very impressed with this hotel - it was in a perfect location for the places we needed to be. The whole place was well presented, and our room was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s also dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us - meaning we could bring our other dog with us! Every member of staff we met was very friendly and genuinely wanted to help. A special shoutout to Irene, who went above and beyond to help us, made us feel very relaxed (on an otherwise very stressful trip) and was very attentive. If we come across another hotel from this chain in the future, we’d definitely choose to stay again. Highly recommended!

Booked afternoon tea last Friday. Pleasantly met and showed to our table. We were looked after by Irene all afternoon who is a star. Can't do enough for you. Food was very nice and plentiful. Had to take some home with us. Highly recommended.

Attended the Brasserie & Bar and was greeted by a lovely member of staff called Irene. I didn't purchase breakfast and Irene went out of her way to get me breakfast and a latte. Her hospitality skills are amazing, along with her customer service skills. Would happily visit again. Such a caring woman, who deserves 5 stars. Thank you Irene.

Very comfortable stay

Very comfortable stay. Spent 2 nights here, the room was adequate with everything we needed, tea and coffee facilities, iron, hair dryer… The bed was very comfortable and the heating was cosy. We were on the 3rd floor and it was nice and quiet. The room decor and bathroom do need updating, but it was all very clean. Good location. Good value. Good size car park. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, particularly Irene in the bar area. Irene was very friendly, attentive and helpful. A credit to the team!

Not an IDEAL ........ deal. Think twice, and ask if there is a function on date of your stay....

We purchased a GROUPON deal including dinner, B & B , plus glass of Prosecco each. The first thing we noticed in our room, (no. 669), was the large 4 poster bed! It was really comfortable, although the mattress seemed slightly short for the frame ( Had to put one pillow between them to stop the other pillow falling down "the gap"). Despite a location that publicised "lovely views", ours was of distant, blank windows, with a grubby glass "atrium", dead leaves and waste decking immediately outside our window. The carpet seemed clean but had "ripples": Probably had been cleaned vigorously or moved and not "re-stretched" to fit properly? Bucket chairs in the room had marks on the seat. There was no phone charging point or sockets beside the bed. Some attempt to update the bathroom with a newer, (colour mismatched) basin and toilet seat. The bath sealant had mould that could also be seen under an older plastic seal. When washing my hands, my slippers connected with a fairly large piece of broken plastic, and some dried mud, possibly swept under the basin area ? Going down for dinner, the stairway smelt stale: unpleasantly " fusty" as though it was, or had been at some point, damp. We were aware we would be eating in the bar, but the area in front of the bar was really busy with drinkers who chose not to sit. As there was only one, overwhelmed member of staff on duty, it took some time to get her attention and ask which meals were included in our "room deal"? Unfortunately, it was so noisy in the area neither she nor I could hear, so I was directed to reception for advice. After ordering, the bar person brought our Prosecco to our table and apologised for the confusion, stating another staff member had not turned in. My Hunters Chicken was super: clearly a fresh breast served with Tender stem Broccoli , sweetcorn and the BEST chips I have ever had. Hubby went for steak & ale pie that was not as impressive.... Returning to our room we settled to watch Saturday evening T.V. with a background of disco music below. When we turned our TV off at 10.30, we realised how loud the disco was, and that it was coming from the room below us, the function room with the Atrium. As an hour passed, the music became even louder, the "bass beat" throbbing up through the floor. I rang reception at 11,30pm asking would the disco would end soon? I was told it was a 70th birthday party, ending at 12.00pm. Receptionist stated she could hardly hear it there, but would ask that the volume be turned down. At 00.22 am the disco was still playing O asis and Blur loudly: receptionist did not answer the phone the first time I called, but did the second. He said " the last songs are being played now... I will ask them to finish. I requested that he didnt ask, but unplug the speakers... "Save the last dance" was played, then ... silence. Buffet style breakfast was not enjoyable: Eggs, rubbery. Bacon, hard. Hash browns, hard. Mushrooms cold & rubbery. One of my tomatoes was sour. Hubby tried to make toast: as only one side had browned he popped it back in and the conveyor toaster caught fire, flames dancing out!!! The young waitress turned it off at the socket. The other told him he should have only put it in once! On speaking to the morning receptionist about the late disco, she stated that it is: "expected the disco would carry on until 1am as "unfortunately it is a "function" hotel". I replied that the purpose of a hotel was that people were able to rest and sleep, and suggested that guests attending the function be placed in rooms where the disco can be overheard . Not those in their 70s. Her reply was that they do not take the age of guests, and rooms are allocated when booked. Left some comments at reception on the "How did we do" card but very little space for all mine. Overall a disappointing stay.....

We do hold events at the hotel as do most hotels, it would be impossible to contact every guest who has booked a stay with us here at the hotel to advise on an event. However we are sorry that you were disturbed on this occasion.
