Terrible food, room OK and an exceptional member of staff.

Stayed one night as part of an organised weekend break to Liverpool with friends. The rooms are OK, comfortable bed, fluffy towels but you are close to a busy road, so it's either have the window open (it was hot when we were there) or suffer a very stuffy room. The member of staff who appeared to be in charge of the restaurant was brilliant, helpful, friendly, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was OK, buffet style hot and cold food. Dinner the night before was probably the worst meal ID ever had. We had been asked to choose our meal when we arrived at the hotel. Starter of pate was OK as was the desert but the main course, roast turkey was terrible. Slices of "turkey" in gravy, a few potatoes and green beans/broccoli. I think everything had come out the freezer but not prepared correctly. It should never have been served to paying customers. So disappointing, the hotel should be ashamed providing food of this quality.

Not a nice place to stay at all!!

Stayed at the hotel during March during training for work. I was here for 2 weeks. On arrival there was a large group of people standing out front smoking, this is first thing in morning and in the evening. My door didn’t lock properly so when I left through the day I was taking all my belongings with me as I didn’t feel that there was any type of security. Every night there was people I can only describe as crack heads shouting and screaming up and down the corridor, smoking in their rooms and being a pain. The staff know that people are smoking in their rooms but clearly don’t really care! Large dogs were also in the building, I have grown up with large dogs but it is still frightening when you walk past a room for a dog to start jumping at the door and bark at you. On departure I had multiple little bite marks on me from which I can only say are flee marks. Bathroom floor tiles were cracked and grout was coming loose. These needs addressing. I only had 1 encounter with the manager and it wasn’t directly towards me but the way she spoke to people wasn’t very nice considering she’s a manager. The job she does you would think she would have better customer communication but clearly not. The only good thing about the hotel which seems to be a down fall in other reviews is that the beds are actually very comfortable.

Hi Jack, Thank-you for taking the time to review your stay, I am sorry to read this was your experience, I can assure you we do not have "Crackheads" running up and down the corridors and we do take any breach of health and safety especially smoking in rooms very seriously, normally asking the culprit to leave immediately. We are a dog friendly hotel and welcome all our four legged friends regardless of size, as long as they are friendly and well behaved. Bathroom floors are normally reported by housekeeping and our maintenance team make repairs or replacements at the first opportunity. I am sorry to read you didn't enjoy your stay Kind regards Marie

We arrived at the hotel to be advised from a member of staff that the hotel is hosting a function that evening and a band would play until midnight, we were assured that our room allocation would allow minimal disruption, NOT the case, very loud music echoing all through the hotel, the windows in our rooms were rattling from the vibration, music could be heard over tv, complained to management, the response was “we told you”, “what would you like me to do”, surely it’s the managers job to know what to do. Music eventually stopped at midnight, only to be replaced by noise from loud conversations from the party guests, contacted management again at around 1.30am, they confirmed they knew there was an issue but the people would be leaving the the hotel soon, if you would like to sleep I suggest booking another location. General Manager has a couldn’t careless attitude and lacks empathy, our stay here ruined our family Easter Weekend

I've read the reviews for this Hotel and I can't believe we are talking about the same place. The General Manager a Mrs Miller was without doubt the rudest, most pedantic individual you could meet. The first evening we were accused of not buying our drinks at the hotel bar when we had, we were not allowed to sit at a table for supper until the whole party were there. In the morning I had to sit on the end of a table which was clearly only ment for 4 people but there were 6 of us with no room for side plates etc. We were staying in the hotel for work at the races. We all had long days and just wanted to come back have something to eat and prepare for the next day. The food in the evening was appaling about 20 of us managed to get a meal from the pub next door when we realised the food was being recycled for the next day. The rooms were not cleaned on Saturday, and so no towels or tea things. I asked a lady called Diane for help and was given a cup with tea bags in it?? I am unused to complaining and I think just a bit of training will improve Mrs Miller's outlook with a view to customer service, she can then help Diane to understand the impotance of not being rude. The rooms were comfortable and clean.

Hi Alison, I'm sorry you weren't happy with my direct response to your email and have chosen a more public forum however my response remains the same. As you so graciously pointed out the majority of our reviews comment on how lovely the staff are and what a lovely atmosphere we have, this is led by me and more often Diane, however we do have a zero tolerance for any sort of anti social behaviour, as I advised in my email we received some lovely feedback from your colleagues and only this morning your head office has forwarded me another example of this, and again as advised we also received apologies from some of your colleagues regarding what they felt to be the inappropriate behaviour of some members of your group. Just to address your other comments: Firstly you were not accused of anything at all and as you are aware some of your colleagues did attempt to bring their own alcohol into the restaurant which is really not acceptable. You didn't have to sit at the end of a table, had you asked we would have pulled two tables together or directed you too a larger one, we had a variety of tables but I'm presuming you choose to sit a smaller table because your colleagues were already there. The menus had been agreed with the booker the week before and nothing was recycled, there were two similar dishes, meat and potato pie on the first day and Lancashire hot pot with a saute potato topping on the third day both traditional wholesome dishes prepared on the day and well received by the majority of the group. You left a do not disturb sign on your door Saturday hence why it was not cleaned, if you were given a cup with tea bags then I presume that is what you asked for, we have a supply of everything else available from the reception office and are always happy to meet our guests needs. In relation to your feedback regarding customer service and not being rude, I can assure you we take our customer service very seriously and do our best to provide excellent service which is reflected in the majority of our guest feedback. O hotel tem um clima de Beatles. No hall e restaurante só toca música deles. Na porta de vidro do hotel já tem eles andando. Mas a surpresa foi o quarto, todo decorado de morangos e escrito na parede forever, numa referência à canção strawberrys fields for ever. A decoração de todo hotel é bem moderna. A comida é boa e o atendimento também.
