room was somewhat shabby, sheets were clean however - tired looking. Staff were fabulous. Breakfast looked bleak (the room) and the food was underwhelming (plastic wrapped croissants and trolley service), felt like we were in a shady motel.

Miserable & rude staff, cramped room, felt unwelcome

We arrived to check in at 2pm as advised when booked on the phone. We were then rudely told that check in had changed to 3pm. We hadn’t been contacted and had a meal booked at the ivy at 3pm. The voucher we had was booked over the phone for the 25th and I was never sent a confirmation. They then tried to charge us £10 each to check in early even though we had arrived at the time they told us when we booked!! My mum bought us the dinner, bed & breakfast stay as a Christmas present and we tagged an additional night on ourselves. I really wish we had chosen a different hotel. There wasn’t any breakfast the first morning and on the second morning was a pathetic bag of rubbish and a gone off pear! The hotel was offering a hot breakfast at Weekend so why not in the week? It’s nothing to do with safety but more the fact they want to save money by cutting the need for chefs and staff at a breakfast service. Very disappointing. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and the manager in there was also quite rude. He must have told us 7 times he was duty manager and that’s why he was failing to attend to us. I fail to see why as the restaurant was empty with probably one other table occupied. He then brought the bill and hadn’t added the 50% off. The first night we stayed we also got rudely awoken by housecleaning (when we were staying for 2 nights had had checked in for 2 nights). There wasn’t one friendly, nice person in the whole hotel. I am so glad that when we went out into Manchester it was a different story and people were so kind, friendly and helpful. Even down to taxi drivers and bin men in the street. Luckily we stumbled across a nice hotel (as we are frequent to Manchester) called the Mitre. Much better location, bar and serves hot breakfast all week along with a friendly manager and staff who can smile. This is where we will stay from now on. I am also going to suggest the voucher site removes mecure from their options as the entire stay there was ruined by rude; miserable staff. It was our one year anniversary and I am so glad we booked lovely restaurants and things to do outside the hotel. Oh and the car parking was also a joke. Most hotels you stay in offer discount off the car parking when staying in the hotel. Cost us £60 to park from mon lunchtime to Wednesday lunchtime

I had a lovely stay the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very nice hight standard off cleaning was put it too place due to the cov19 I also would like to the restaurant food was very good and great value and the restaurant staff were very friendly and polite thank you to Stephen for all hes help sorry I had to leave earlier then pland but I had a family emergency but thank you all for making my 5 days with you the best

Overall we had a decent stay at the hotel, we found the room a little small and a bit outdated. There was a couple instances where there seemed to lack of clear and concise communication The fact the parking cost 20 per day was not made clear on booking, also the fact that we could not use Accor points against payment of our food. When we made the booking we asked about using the points and were told we would be able to use them, this was again confirmed with a member of staff when we arrived on the first day of our stay. Unfortunately this was not the case when we tried to use them in the restaurant the following day.

We do highlight that the car park is chargeable on all our sites and being a city centre, charges are expected and are in line with other costs throughout. I do apologise about the incidents outside the hotel, unfortunately this is out of our control and therefore we are unable to sort anything with regards to any rough sleepers and police sirens outside in the city. With regards to the points, it was explained at check in that the points system is complex. You would need to pay using the card associated with your Accor account and pay using your app. You will then get reimbursed through Accor directly at a later date. I apologise for any misunderstanding with this information. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. The hotel advert picture from the outside looks really welcoming however there is a decline around the Piccadilly area where the hotel is located, too many people sleeping on the side walks the smell of wee drugs was noticeable and police needing to calm disturbances late into night, is not welcoming or good advertisement for a hotel chain like Mercure. Get the council to do something about it the company does pay business rates does it?

Clean, close to plenty of shops and restaurants and staff are rather helpful. However, the TV didnt work in our room which was to our disappointment. Finally as i am 6’3 the shower head only came to my chin. But overall for the price it was completely worth it.

Location for Manchester centre was perfect. All staff were incredibly accommodating. Rooms were average but more than acceptable for a city centre location. Price was excellent with an accor members deal.

Our room was not ready had to wait for 1hr 20 mins after check in, but it was worth the wait. It was clean and spacious, my only complaint was it was to hot, breakfast was delivered in a bag to the room
