Stayed here over night. There was a party on the lower level, my room was on the 12th floor. However, I could not sleep because I could hear the party as though I was sleeping in the middle of it. On top of that I suffered the noise of the constantly busy lift humming and thudding away 24/7. It gets worse, the toilet had a constant drip leak sound. All this put together made for zero sleep for me ahead a stressful working day. Also, the room was freezing cold. The thermostat did not work whatsoever. They supplied a tiny oil heater, from which I only felt heat if I was adjacent to it. Reception staff were not very welcoming or nonchalant. Dinner and lunch from the restaurant was awful. The “posh” reputation of the Mercure brand is utter propaganda and hype….do not fall for it.

Disappointing

The hotel rooms are clearly dated which isn’t a problem so long as they are clean however our room left us very disappointed when we learnt that the toilet waste pipe was leaking from the bowl into the waste stack, onto the bathroom floor. This is just unacceptable and unhygienic. We only got changed and dropped our bags in the evening and so didn’t spend much time there until the next morning when we discovered it just wasn’t as clean as you’d expect. I am glad we didn’t pay the “premium” price as the guy told us when we checked in, the price we paid was half of the price for that night. I’d have been very disappointed if I’d have paid £300 for the night.

Hotel is in a great location, for public transport, shops etc. staff were lovely and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Our only issue was a corridor door banging constantly through the night, which we did mention to staff on checking out. Would definitely stay again, hoping we don’t experience the same annoyance. Breakfast was lovely too. Great views from the restaurant. Overlooking the Xmas market in Piccadilly gardens.
