My stay at Novotel New Delhi was unfortunately disappointing and fell well below the standards I would expect from a hotel of this category. From the moment I arrived, the guest experience was lacking. The staff at the check-in counter were not particularly courteous, and no one offered assistance with my baggage, provided directions to my room, or even asked basic preferences such as whether I required a smoking or non-smoking room. As a result, I was allocated a smoking room that had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Additionally, the washroom had an unpleasant odour, and the water pressure was extremely poor, further impacting the comfort of my stay. I was also surprised to be charged a booking deposit despite the reservation being a corporate booking. While I understand charging guests for incidental expenses, it felt unreasonable to collect what appeared to be a room-related security amount upfront. A more standard approach would have been to charge only for any additional services used during the stay while checking out. Another issue was that I never received access to the complimentary Wi-Fi, even though free Wi-Fi was explicitly included in the booking details. Finally, I requested a wake-up call for 6:00 AM but received it at 6:30 AM instead. Such a delay defeats the purpose of a wake-up service and could have caused significant inconvenience had I been relying on it for an important commitment. Overall, the combination of poor customer service, room quality issues, lack of promised amenities, and failure to deliver basic guest services made this a disappointing experience. I hope the hotel takes these concerns seriously and improves its service standards for future guests.
