Lovely helpful staff, would have been easier if the receptionist behind the plastic screen was not wearing a mask, as understanding your own language with a mask is hard enough, but conversing in another is even more difficult, the lady was very patient though and we got there in the end. The cleaning lady was awesome and so nice. This visit we decided to have one evening meal in the restaurant, the staff were lovely, friendly, attentive and the food was delicious, we ate far too much as a result. Thank you all for making our short stay at a difficult time so lovely, next time we will upgrade as we did last time to the 'Premier' sea view room, when staying a few days, those little extras are definitely worth it.

Not what i really expeted but anyway a good stay. Not a great breakfast choice.

COVID 19 as an excuse for disappointing service

When we arrived at 3.30 on the 9th our room was not ready. We dropped our luggage and came back at 4. Still not ready and had to wait another 10 min.. Next day when checking out we wanted to leave our luggage in the cloakroom as we traveled by train. "Closed cause of COVID 19" we were told. No negotiating helped and we had to drag our luggage across town and on the beach all day. Another source of disappointment: breakfast. Not sure what -else than the seaside view- is worth 16.50 Euro. Cold cuts were piled on the plant in a block right as they come out of the fridge. And the choice was somewhere close to 'IBIS Budget'. The hotel wants itself to be 4 Star but stay short of it: and by a long shot!

These COVID times are strange times. Yet with the right precautions we can face a lot. I did an online check-in. The response stated all was arranged I only needed to pick up my key and I would receive a text with the code for the parking. I did receive a text but not with the code. Picking up the key was not just picking up the key, they needed my credit card again. Why is staff so mixed in following the hotel rules? We used the face masks, the girl behind reception was very clear, almost aggressive when I took my mask off for second to unlock my phone. Yet the girl behind the bar was very loose about wearing her mask over mouth AND nose. Behind the bar she had the mask down a couple of times or only over her mouth. There are walking directions within the hotel but no one seemed to care? Not even staff? They should be ones setting the example and guide people who do not understand the routes.

Well located, but disappointing standards compared to other Mercure Hotels

The hotel is well located, close to the city center and right by the seafront. The quality of service was just satisfactory, but poorer than what I had experienced in other Mercure Hotels. The room was rather small (comparable to what you would find in a Parisian hotel), and its layout rather surprising: there wasn't a bathroom, the shower and faucet were in the hallway. The wi-fi was jumpy and no toileteries were provided. Would only recommend for short stays.

Nice location, but hotel seems a little bit old and the was no minibar, location is very good.

The was no minibar in the room. The hotel has a bar but for some reason you may not drink a cold beer in the afternoon, even at 30 degrees C.. It seems to be forbidden by the hotel manager. We only stayed 2 nights and that was really all we could bear. The breakfast was still a buffet, not very safe in covidtimes, and putting on an off your mask each time to get something was not very convenient. We didn't feel welcome, although the lady at the reception was friendly and helpfull.

We stayed 2 nights in a seaview room. Very nice design, comfortable and a big bed. We didn't have breakfast or dinner so can't comment on the food. Staff were friendly. Would stay again.

I have often stayed at Hotel Presidence and been satisfied. I now find that the service has fallen. Paper cups are cheap. Sand coloured rough toilet paper is cheap. Having too few staff is cheap. But the room rates are not cheap!

Falling standards

Cheapening service has caused a fall in standards at this once good hotel. For example bedroom cups and saucers have been replaced with paper thin cardboard cups without handles. They look cheap. They are difficult to hold when containg hot tea/coffee. Also, often there is only one person handling the cocktail bar and receptions. Slow service results, but it saves Accor money and is cheap. And, the rough, sand coloured paper looks cheap and feels cheap. The breakfast room move to the old Panoramic fouth floor provides great views but the food quality and selection and lack of service at 16Euros was poor value.

Overall satisfactory - hotel is a bit tired. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Felt they were a bit short staffed eg - bar unattended if guests being booked in. Good location and parking was good

It's impossible to get a good cup of tea in France. The tea bags provided are tasteless. The 'coffee milk' in totally unacceptable in tea - it tastes disgusting. I brought my own tea bags and fresh milk with me. Sadly housekeeping removed my tea bags and there was no fridge for my milk. All good hotel stays are dependent on being able to get a decent cup of tea. After all these years it is still impossible. The bathroom was rediculous.
