Breakfast after early ferry crossing

We arrived in Dieppe at 06:30 on a dark November morning off the ferry, too early to check into our Ebooking flat. . We were drifting about with our luggage tired and hungry until the Tourist Office in the harbour recommended the Mercure Hotel. The concierge stored all our bags. The restaurant on fourth floor had beautiful view of lido, castle etc Food was varied and plentiful (smoked salmon, passion fruit, boil your own eggs) and more importantly they served excellent organic English breakfast tea in a pot. One doesn’t need to be resident to take breakfast here and we just walked in. Children ten or younger go free. Brek was €18.50 pp We lingered in the restaurant and lobby for ages without pressure.

Room was clean and the bed comfortable, so got a good sleep. Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had in France, lots of local choice, great cheese, apple tart and yogurt. Great view from the restaurant too.

Location is great, there are various parking options available, beyond hotel parking. It was great to see chargers for electric cars installed, but parking places were very narrow and require some exercise to get in and out of the parking lot. Service is friendly and is prompt with helping with requests. However, waiting time at the bar can be unpredictable. What was odd, is that breakfast options were limited, with only scrambled eggs as a warm meal option and bakery was often stale.

Great Location right in the center of Dieppe close to beach and all tourist sites. Charming town and nice hotel. Room had a great view and bed was very comfortable. Room was not large and shower was basically in the bedroom which was a bit strange. Good amenities were provided. The breakfast was an additional charge and was very tasty with a good selection of food. Hotel staff was friendly and nice. Would stay here again.
