I am a regular with the hotel. The maintenance / upgrade works are a necessity no doubt, but it would be nice to continue experiencing the same warmth as before. The staff was very nice, but there was something missing in the joint approach.

Initially, Ibis Dakar didn’t quite meet my expectations upon arrival. The hotel appeared clean yet showed signs of wear, particularly evident in the worn carpets begging for renovation. However, as our stay unfolded, my opinion shifted. One standout was undoubtedly the breakfast spread, offering a tempting array of French pastries, cheeses, fruits, made-to-order omelets, juices, granolas, yogurts, and more. Don’t miss out on this; it’s served at the sister property, Novotel. Although we didn’t utilize it, the pool area looked inviting. Rooms, though small and basic, boasted pool views. The hotel’s location is another highlight, conveniently close to all attractions. Moreover, the staff proved exceptionally helpful, enhancing our overall experience. We departed feeling rather pleased about our stay.

Few red flags at the reception during check in, I should pay more attention to. The receptionist asked me if it's my first time and also why I booked thru "this agency". Very strange, coz I booked directly on Accor website and I am tier member - all this clearly mentioned in my reservation and visible in the system. Than he said that credit card machine is not working and only cash is accepted. I paid in euro and got the invoice, which was in local currency and I did't pay much attention. Next morning I was confronted by another receptionist that I did't pay for breakfast. I explained exactly how much I paid in euros and the change I got in local currency. She said that she does not believe and I have to pay again. I was shocked that she was not interested to find out what happened and attitude level was unbearable. . I said that I am calling the police then. She suddenly changed her behaviour and called her colleague who checked me in. By the voice tone I can say they had a fight. When she hung up, she just said "my colleague made a mistake", but without apology and with even more attitude "that's it".
