A Truly Terrifying and Unprofessional Experience – Avoid This Hotel

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

Alshehabi TripAdvisor review

I rarely leave bad reviews, but our experience at this hotel was so shocking that I feel obligated to warn others. The hotel is located in a very run-down and unsafe area that feels like a ghetto, and there is a strong unpleasant smell throughout the corridors. However, the real nightmare began when we arrived in the evening and got stuck in the car park for over 30 minutes with my wife and two young children. We rang the intercom multiple times—no answer. We called the hotel, no reception. It was an extremely dangerous situation, especially with young kids. I had to walk up three levels of car ramps to reach reception. When I arrived, the two young receptionists were chatting, and one was laughing on the phone. When I told him my family had been stuck in the car park for over half an hour, he laughed and told the person on the phone he would “talk later.” Instead of helping, they argued with me, saying I should have pressed the intercom only once and blaming a “technical problem.” A manager later told me that if I continued to criticise them, he would not allow us to stay. We decided immediately that we did not want to stay in such an unsafe and poorly managed hotel and asked to have our booking cancelled with no charges. When I requested written confirmation, the manager signed the email as “Prenom.” When I asked for his real name, he finally said “Jose” after arguing that his name was prenom thinking that I don’t understand French. But refused to give his surname, saying, “This is not Australia.” The staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and even laughed when I explained how dangerous the situation was for my children. The entire experience was a nightmare. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Cheap is cheap—and you truly get what you pay for.

Sir, We are sincerely sorry that your visit was stressful for you, but it is important to provide specific facts to correct several points in your comment. After a thorough review of the security cameras, intercom, and phone recordings, your family was not stuck in the parking lot for "more than 30 minutes." According to the cameras, the first intercom ring was at 6:37 PM, and you entered the reception area at 6:43 PM, approximately six minutes later. The intercom was activated a very large number of times in a few seconds, which is precisely what caused the signal to drop: this was not due to a lack of response from staff. Regarding your claim of climbing "three flights of ramps," our parking lot does not have three levels, which confirms once again that your account does not correspond to the facts. Upon your arrival, our two receptionists were already assisting other guests: one checking in, the other on a phone call. They were neither laughing at the situation nor idle. Your tense arrival quickly made communication difficult despite their attempts to explain. Faced with the escalating conflict and your direct threats to call the police, our team had to implement our internal security procedure. Our agent intervened immediately. Seeing that the situation was not calming down, we ultimately decided, for your comfort and that of everyone else, to cancel your reservation free of charge, a solution you accepted. We respect every guest's right to express their opinion, but we feel it is essential to provide these clarifications when the reported events deviate so significantly from the observed reality. We wish you pleasant travels in the future.

It's very well positioned next to city centre. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Room is clean and reasonably sized. So all in all its a good place to stay for a money. My only recommendation is to get a properly sized ironing board instead of mini boards they have now.
