Great value but yet to address issues raised in previous (2019) review

I recently stayed again at Ibis Styles Kingsgate Hotel for five nights, this time on the sixth floor. Further to my May 2019 review of the hotel, some additional comments: * Soap and shampoo in the bathroom is now delivered via dispensers, * Although there are only two lifts serving the six floors, there were very few times during our stay that we had to wait for a lift. * The guest laundry on the first floor requires $1 coins to operate; laundry powder is available for purchase from reception. * Entry to the hotel is challenging for people with mobility issues as there are stairs at the entrance. Unfortunately a couple of the areas I mentioned in my last review where the hotel could be improved have not been addressed: * There is still nowhere specific in the room to put a suitcase - we ended up having to put our suitcase on the desk. I (again) hope the hotel considers providing collapsible suitcase stands in the future. * The coffee provided in the room is still powdered International Roast. While some people may think this is being very picky, the only hotel in the Accor brand that I have previously associated this coffee with is Ibis Budget. At $136/night (including the continental breakfast for 2), the Ibis Styles Kingsgate still offers excellent value in an inner-city location and we would be happy to return, TC

Stayed here for one night in May 2024 Pros: 1) The biggest plus (for us, Tamilians) is that there is a Saravana Bhavan bang next door. If you don't know what that is, this point is not for you. 2) The hotel is within a short walk to the Southern Cross train station 3) The front desk staff was courteous and helpful 4) The front desk operates 24/7 5) The wifi was free with good speed and connectivity. 6) The room and bathroom were clean 7) Tariff is cheap 8) The place is quiet at night and the sleep quality was great. Cons: 1) The hotel is at one end of the historic centre. So far from all the main attractions and restaurants. 2) As with all Ibis hotels, the rooms are tiny.

We were greeted well at Reception. We found Pearl to be a shining light, her approach to wanting to help was exceptional. She had that professional helpful manner.. When ever we asked for directions or assistance, she did not fail. Room size was small, back of house service was tardy & could do better to tidy & clean the rooms. Breakfast restaurant was good & well catered. Quick, friendly cordial service. (Thanks)

My friends and I had to just stay overnight in Melbourne CBD whilst visiting relatives in the suburbs. Arriving from Brisbane into Melbourne Airport, all we had to do was walk to the Airbus Bus Stop, then a half an hour drive into the CBD and a 5 minute walk from Southern Cross Station where the bus pulled in to this hotel - it was so easy! The rooms were small but clean and had nice modern bathroom attached. It had a desk and desktop phone and all other requirements for a short stay. Because of it's location we were also able to access restaurants/7-11 Stores/supermarkets and the free tram real easily. I will use this hotel again.

I stayed 1 night on a recent work trip to Melbourne. The location is very convenient to the office and as a solo female traveller, I felt safe coming and going from the hotel. As always, my stay here was basic but perfectly adequate. The beds are comfortable, bathrooms small but modernised and functional. My only problem with this particular stay was that I forgot to request a quiet room away from the elevators, and I ended up with a room right in front of them. I'm a pretty light sleeper and, although people were generally pretty respectful about not making a lot of noise as they were coming and going during the night, the whoosh of the elevator still woke me up quite often.
