Perfectly functional . Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. But overall the hotel is very tatty. Tables in reception with peeling veneer, same with bathroom door. Toilets by bar area like those in an institution and smelt terrible. Bannister on staircase rooms do dirty I put my gloves on going up and down stairs. Room itself was clean. Staff friendly.

We enjoyed our stay, comfortable room, friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Restaurant staff very friendly but need to sort out tea/coffee service at breakfast. We asked for a jug of milk to go with our tea /coffee and offered a glass of milk. Staff busy chatting amongst themselves as we tried to ask for more coffee.

My partner and I spent one night at be Mercure Eastgate Hotel Oxford, room 1002 in the new wing. The room was spotless and really lovely, as well as being very quiet as set back from the main road. I’d mentioned that it was my partner’s birthday trip and so had a lovely message from the management complete with complimentary bottle of wine. Also as we had signed up to Accor, we were given a free drinks voucher to use at the bar. Lovely touch to a fantastic stay! The breakfast had lots of choices, hot or cold, and very friendly staff too. The hotel is literally 5 minutes away from the very centre of town and was the perfect base to explore Oxford. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend. Just to mention the Ivy restaurant is just along the same road and we had a fab meal there too. Once again would highly recommend.
