Spent a lovely weekend in Oxford at the Mercure Hotel. The room was well appointed with good views and there was a good supply of bathroom toiletries available.

Clean comfortable room, good shower room, but stained and dirty carpet!!

Our travel agent booked a standard room with double bed but upon arrival the room had a single bed and the reception team noted that that the hotel was full and it wasnt possible to move to a room with double bed. This was very disappointing.

Following a review of your booking, we found that your travel agent initially reserved a double room directly with the hotel, but subsequently cancelled this reservation. A new booking was later made through Expedia for a single room. We understand how this situation may have led to confusion and inconvenience, and we regret any frustration this may have caused. At Mercure, we are committed to delivering a superior service experience to every guest, and your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve. The accommodations themselves were great, beautiful building/location etc. What really let down the service was twofold: First, the car parking - £30 a night is near criminal, especially when you get calls and texts at 8am asking to move the car because the person at the desk doesn't know how to! What would've happened if I'd already left for the day? Ridiculous. Secondly, I left a phone charger in the room when I left. I called the following day to see if it had been found and was told someone would call me back. I haven't received a call, nor do I think the person I spoke to was too interested in my issue. Very disappointing seeing as I had a really good experience when we first arrived (Tony was fantastic at getting us settled)

We had a mostly pleasant stay, our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty, and we particularly appreciated the luggage storage, which enabled us to make the most of our time in Oxford. The only two quibbles were that we were put in an interconnecting room, and there was very little sound proofing between the rooms, meaning we were unable to avoid eavesdropping on our neighbours. Secondly, there was a distinct smell of damp in the corridor of the lower basement, and to a lesser extent in our bathroom, which rather took the edge off the luxe feel.
