A very well oiled team running this place. A welcome card from the GM (David Lane), enthusiastic front desk team, very capable housekeeping team keeping the room spick and span always. What more can you ask. Nice bright corridor and room. Water dispenser along the corridor ( thumbs up for sustainability ). Mini laundrette at Level 3, good for long stay over.

I would like to state I wanted to give this a 4.5 rating but there is no way to do so. So I'm just rounding up. We managed to book one of the newly renovated rooms (Deluxe Queen) on the upper floor which was great as it was farther up from the ongoing renovation works still being done on 7th & 8th floor during our stay. The room we got was generally insulated on the higher floor. I can't comment if it were on the lower floor and the non-renovated rooms though. The room size was big enough for us to have 1 large suitcase, 2 medium suitcase, 2 carryon bags and 1 laptop bag and it wasn't a "tight fit" and there was still room to move around. I have to note this as when we were looking for hotels, we found 12 to 14sqm hotel room with ensuite toilets. Ibis' rooms are 18 sqm (includes the bay window I'm guessing) but it was large enough to fit all the stuff we had with us. If we booked the smaller hotel room, I honestly don't know how we would have fit in those rooms and not trip on something. The mattress and pillows were great for us. But your mileage may vary and it will depend on your preference. I will have to knock the aircon's "sensor". It appears to be detecting if there is movement inside the room after a set amount of time, if none detected, it will go to ecomode/energy saving mode that automatically adjusts it to 25degrees at the lowest fan speed eventhough we set it at 2 fan speed either 23 or 24 degrees. So I would wake up in the middle of the night with the temperature be in the 25 degree eco setting and have to fiddle with it to revert it back to "active setting". Just something to note, but it isn't a deal breaker for me. Having the availability of a water dispenser on each floor was a boon. Didn't need to buy bottled water at all to explore and we could come back to rest and refill before leaving again. The lavatory faucet had a note that the water from it was drinkable but we didn't try to use it for drinking. I will have to point out that even the renovated rooms, their toilet still do not have a bidet which was a bit of a bummer, not a seat type bidet or a telephone type bidet sadly. I did have a travel portable bidet with me. But I hoped the newly renovated rooms would have it. Went up to the topmost floor (16th) and the gym was there but there was no roof deck you could step out to. The Gym did have large windows but provided a view from 1 side of the building only. Didn't really use the gym and just checked it out. There was always available umbrella for me to borrow which was quite nice as I didn't have to bother with having to bring one with me. At a different hotel in the area I previously booked with family, there didn't seem to be enough available for guests to borrow. Didn't try to borrow one of their bikes nor did we eat at the hotel so I won't be able to comment on their food. Had a welcome drink coffee though =) Staff were very accommodating and able to assist me with my requests for early checkin and late check out as there was availability for me to get it approved. We did request for room cleaning once in the middle of our stay but we only did so via the door sign in the morning around 830am. We didn't think to call the reception desk or use the QR Code of the door sign to digitally register in their system the request for room cleaning. Got back around noon and it still wasn't done. Called the reception and the room cleaning got done to mid afternoon since they were now prepping the rooms for new guests who will be checking in 3pm. But I guess that's something to take note of to opt to use the QR Code or call the front desk to schedule room cleaning in the morning to make sure it is booked in the system. Requests for room cleaning 2pm onwards can't be scheduled on the same day anymore. If it matters, there are 4 elevators serving all 16 floors. All were in service during our stay. Smoking rooms are located at the 4th floor only when I asked the reception desk.

We stayed for one night recently during a very brief stop in Singapore. The welcome at check in was wonderful, very efficient and friendly. We were assigned one of the newly renovated rooms and were given the run of the mini bar. The room is certainly small, but certainly functional. The bathroom is a good size and the shower is great. The bench next to the window would have made a smart place to put more storage within. It was also very difficult to sit on, but that's a minor complaint. The main drawback to the room are the bed and the AC. The bed is very very hard, which in fairness is not unusual in SE Asia. But this was hard even for the region and we found it difficult to sleep on. Be sure to keep this in mind if you struggle with really hard beds. The AC in the room worked, but not particularly well. It cooled the room a bit, just very slowly. We woke up a couple of times during the night covered in sweat. Given this was a newly renovated room, it's probably not getting better any time soon. Back onto some positives, the location is fantastic with heaps of shops and restaurants in the area. The whole neighbourhood has a really buzzy feel to it which was really cool. I'll also mention the breakfast buffet that was included in our room charge, it was fantastic! Huge variety and constantly being refreshed, it was really nice to wake up to. So, would I recommend this hotel? If you don't mind a hard bed and a warmish room, maybe? It's a good price in a good location with good service. But, for a newly renovated room we were uncomfortable, so I think I'd look elsewhere next time.
