My husband surprised me with an evening away and spa experience. The hotel is lovely and a stunning wedding/event venue. The food was average, not as good as expected but it was pleasant. The bar was really nice with great service.

This was my fourth visit. I love this hotel and prefer the traditional to the new. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The male on reception, name I cannot recall was super helpful and friendly and gave me a free voucher for a drink for being a loyal customer. He also rang my room to explain that the loyalty points would only be applied for food and drink as I did not make the booking. Food and service are excellent and hope I can return.

The hotel was lovely, food amazing and the general staff were really present. The only negatives we have was the building and pool were so cold, although we get that being a huge open building. Lastly the manager I think, sat on her laptop in the small bar area openly talking about crack cocaine she's experienced on nights out while people queued at the unmanned bar could have been better?

Stayed over New Years weekend- had done this a good few times before as part of a big group. The staff were very friendly as ever the rooms were great and the food was excellent! We did have a problem with the shower being cold one evening- but a phone call to reception rectified that within minutes. Lovely walks in the area. A great way to spend new year!

Well, it must have been nearly 40 years since I had previously stayed at the Dunkenhalgh so it was all a bit "Nostalgic" I guess. The Hotel was very different and in places in need of a good touch up of paint. However the Hotel was damn cold other than in the bedroom.

Check in was good room was nice breakfast and dinner on 1st night was good breakfast and dinner on 2nd night was poor. Food was cold for breakfast had to reorder ran out off items ran out of mushrooms and tomatoes, service not great either. Service for dinner was slow and head waitress was forgetting people's orders including ours.

Only with you for one night to break up a longer journey but received excellent service. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the staff were cheerful, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We booked a 2 night stay between Christmas and New Year. The food was excellent (delicious, great portion size, varied menu), and the bar was tastefully decorated. The service in the restaurant was friendly and efficient. The bedroom was large, clean and spacious. Unfortunately these were the only highlights of our short stay. The hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. It felt neglected and tired. Curtains were hanging off the windows, unmaintained, paint peeling off walls. The light fixture inside the lift leading up to bedrooms was smashed and clearly no one had made an effort to fix this. The outside building was dirty, dank and uninviting. It was disappointing that there were no other social areas for residents such as a 'residents lounge', so there was no where to go other than the bar. There are evidently many conference rooms on the ground floor of the main hotel, but they were all empty and cold and set aside for conferences / weddings (all were empty when we were there). It lacked atmosphere and any form of luxury. It would be beneficial for one of these ground floor room to be converted into a cozy lounge where residents can order tea / read the paper / relax. Because of these reasons, I will not be returning nor recommending the hotel to my friends and family. What a shame as the restaurant was pleasant and the 3 course dinners we had and full English breakfast over both days were beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Please look into refurbishing the communal areas of this hotel.

Was very excited about this hotel, but unfortunately when we arrived i asked for roses and chocolates but upon arrival was nothing, i told reception qnd they gave us a bottle but was not the surprise i was wanting fkr my other half,, but in all i would 100% go back pool is lovely gym is great, juat dont ask for asd ons thats all,,

Not welcomed upon check-in. Noisy room ( opposite a family with kids). Cold room and the heater wouldn’t work. cleaner walks in without waiting for me to open the door. Soup was freezing cold when ordered in bar then nuked in the microwave . No appointments at all in the spa.

We stayed in a Privilege room and having stayed in another hotel the previous night we were disappointed. We had a shower room, no bath, although the was a coffee machine with 3 coffee pods and a couple of bathrooms nothing else felt special about the room. Breakfast was ok, but we walked down a featureless corridor and outside under a covered walkway and through a cold bar area, I guess it was closed, to get there. It felt like a Premier Inn. Our previous hotel had a bathroom two or three times the size, a comfortable sofa in front of the TV and better bathrobes.
