Room 51. Wall appeared to be paper thin. Could clearly hear what was going on in rooms on either side of mine. Not good. Remembered I had ear plugs so had to use them plus music to get to sleep.

Stayed for an overnight spa. Only downside was the sauna etc. Not being open but this was due to covid so cannot be helped! Facial was lovely, food was really nice. Whilst relaxing at the pool multiple children came in with their parents and they were splashing and loud which i know cannot be helped but maybe a seperate area for spa guests may be needed as it wasn't as relaxing by the pool but overall really good stay

We had a nice stay at the hotel, just a shame we had to go out for food because of the limited menu options. The lunch wasnt good and overpriced (nearly £30 for 2 sandwiches that were stale, a bowl of chips and 2 lemonades) therefore we went out for evening meal instead of stay in the hotel. Breakfast was nice although hot options were cold. Everything else was lovely and definitely recommend booking a treatment in the spa. Family room is amazing and the beds are so comfy! Will definitely be back but when there is no restrictions so we aren't limited in the spa and restaurant.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel till the moment we left, we were made to feel welcome. The room we had was just off the courtyard which was lovely, it was clean and comfortable, we had been made aware when we checked in that housekeeping was limited due to Covid 19, which is completely understandable, but if we required anything we only needed to ask. We did have a few issues with the TV and also no hairdryer in the room, but after just one call to reception this was dealt with within minutes. So down for our evening meal, yes the menu was limited, but there was a reasonable choice and the food we ordered was lovely ...esp the sticky toffee pudding (on the 1st night). After a good nights sleep we went for breakfast where we were greeted by Aziz, what a lovely man cheerful and chirpy , breakfast was available to order, lots of choice. 2nd night evening meal, similar menu again so decided to have the sticky toffee pudding again, alas this was not so good this time it was served barely warm (still ate it though) the waitress that night was Sophie she was amazing, especially as she was juggling having to serve in the bar across the hall, seat dinner guests, handing out menus and taking orders and then serving the food , I do feel that this was great service from her (but lack of vision from the management team for staffing levels, ) leaving one person to do all this, I did make a comment and it was noted and one of the managers who should have finished at 15.30 came to assist . I have had previous experience of this in another Mercure hotel as well think it is something that needs addressing We had booked in for Spa treatments, these were outstanding, from the moment we got to reception to the treatments we had the team were so professional and welcoming, Tea, coffee and water were all provided with no charge I would definitely come back and stay as we stopped here with a spa package so it was good value

Stayed at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel for my daughters wedding recently. The hotel has recently been refurbished with some work till ongoing. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Service was good and no issues, I didn’t get chance to us the spa, as we returning in March then maybe next time.

Having booked a spa break with my friend we had a lovely hot stone massage unfortunately this was where our fabulous time ended, the food we were served in the resteraunts was inedible. When telling the server I was disappointed I was not offered anything different or even an apology, the chicken starter was bad and the I'm cooked burger I was served for main was the worst I have ever had. The hotel itself was adequate however the total disregard for the visitors from the staff ruined our whole experience.

Came for a spa experience and relaxing night. Room was brand new and clean and beautiful and large, extremely comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Facilities were nice, shame we couldn’t use all the spa facilities which was disappointing. Had dinner in the restaurant. Really slow service which was the only let down but food was really nice. Breakfast was good variety and also lovely. Staff were friendly.

Hotel I appreciate is carrying out what looks like a much needed refurbishment program but what let it down was the dinning experience & quality of the food, I've dined in better school canteens. The food quality was bland tasting for the evening dish & breakfast cooked food was poor. Your staff that I dealt with were very good, polite, helpful & professional.

Nice hotel but amenities lacked

Upon arrival is was greeted by a £10 car parking charge. The advert on Booking.com said that on-site parking was included with the room booking. So off to a bad start. The hotel is well located and was very clean and tidy. The room was larger than your average hotel room and was nice and modern in terms of decor. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom looked like one from a top-end hotel. However the wi-fi signal did not reach my room, even though the hotel is advertised as all rooms having free wi-Fi. I spoke to the guy on reception who just told me that ''it should work'' and that was it. So I was unable to complete the work I had planned to do that evening. Also the TV in my room did not work, I phone reception a couple of times but there was no answer. In the morning whilst checking out I would have complained about these issues but there was a large queue in reception of people checking in, and due to social distancing it was taking a long time, so I just left. Lovely hotel with good pool and gym facilities that was unfortunately let down by the basics.

As NHS workers we decided to book a spa break to relax, the massages were great! However the whole experience was let down by the shortsge of food, the dinner menu was limited as expected, but to run out of soup, peas, burgers etc. is not acceptable we ordered fish chips and peas & were offered beans! The fish smelt & tasted fishy. We left most of it. Breakfast wss really poor being a pesatarian the only warm choice was a mozzarella and tomato panini, this is more a lunch thing. I asked for yoghurt & granola & they had ran out of granola. I left for work at 8:30am hungry, we had hardly anyting to eat at dinner & no breakfast. We were suppose to receive a bottle of wine , we do not drink & no alternative was offered. The resturant staff apologised & offered us a coffee, which we had in the room anyway. The sink and tiles around the shower were moulded & the TV didnt work. All in all very upset & dissappointing. We paid nearly £150. For this night!

Reception staff excellent Grab and go breakfast acceptable but I personally would have preferred to eat in the restaurant. Bedroom clean, although there were areas which I would have expected to be better in the bathroom, given this was a refurbished room. 9 years ago I worked at Dunkenhalgh (banqueting), however I had never been a 'guest'. I booked to go for my 28th birthday with my fiancé, however I was left disappointed. The room was OK, and had obviously just been redecorated, however there were blood stains on our duvet cover (after telling a member of staff, this was changed after our evening meal). Whilst working at Dunkenhalgh, I always looked forward to any 'leftovers' and rated the food highly. I understand that your menu is limited due to covid but oven chips and a rock hard pizza isn't what I'd expect from a quality hotel like Dunkenhalgh. I was also completely shocked at the cost of the parking! My voucher stated that I had full use of the car park but ended up paying £5, which after I left, realised that it should have been £10! But the receptionist said she would speak to management about the cost, but we heard nothing back. You will certainly lose custom with this charge, it is shocking! We were not informed on the form of this charge or about the thermal spa not being open. The breakfast was probably the best part of the stay and on the whole, the staff were polite and helpful. However, I felt sorry for them as I saw people complaining about the parking and I constantly cannot see people being happy with the quality of the food. I'm not writing this review to be hardwork, as I loved working there and would hate to see it going downhill, especially since it is being renovated and looks much nicer. As an assistant head, I have attended on courses, the quality of the buffet style food was much better than the meal I had that weekend. I would suggest not publishing this on your page.
