Extremely dissatisfied with the hotel. We upgraded to Prestige room with mini bar but no soft drink or water in room. No toilet rolls and towels were minimal. Could not get anything to eat at lunchtime. Breakfast was a bag of basic items rather than a full English or cooked meal. Had to pay to park. £151 per night far too expensive for the facilities or lack of them! Only explanation due to Covid??? Not a happy customer must do better Accor

The issues: • Breakfast supplied ‘to go’: not mentioned during the booking process, for the money was pitiful. Only mentioned in the booking confirmation, which I admit I did not notice. Went Costa where we had the same/better breakfast for £12, not the £24 charged. • Asked for a room at the rear of the hotel, due to road noise. Instead we were put on the 2nd floor at the front. The room was stiflingly hot, which I appreciate they had little control over, but we had to have the window open and therefore be subjected to the usual chorus of cars, lorries and drunks walking past until the early hours. • Room size. I’m dubious the bed was a double, but either way it was pushed up to one wall due to how small the room is, so my wife had to crawl over the bed each time she got in or out in the night, making sleeping even harder. • Shower; this was a joke, having furred up with scale. FYI we paid £59 for a Premiere Inn, in the Brewery Quarter of Dorchester the next night. Room was larger, cooler, quieter and came with breakfast as advertised. And free parking!

Stayed in Executive Room 128. Pros: Attractive property in central Salisbury location Large room Four-poster bed Good-sized bath with shower over Staff trying hard to please The fan in the wardrobe was effective and quiet At check-in, given free parking; normally £6.50/day Cons: The air conditioning in room 128 was completely ineffective. Of the alternative rooms we saw with a/c, the only one where it was effective was on the rear directly overlooking the condenser plant, but this was probably due t the fact that it wasn't facing the hot evening sun. (Rooms on the second-floor room had not yet been re-opened, so only a few on the first-floor were available, despite the very low occupancy level.) There was a lot of traffic noise with the windows open on this hot weekend. High-definition channels and radio channels on the television kept freezing and were unusable. Maintenance staff were not available to look at these issues, presumably still furloughed. The four-poster bed was hard to get in/out of because of having to climb over a wooden frame. The milk pots were out of date and had gone off. Towels were small and of poor quality. This is a good three-star hotel, but, even allowing for the limitations imposed by the recent lockdown, it falls short as a four-star. Go expecting the former, and you will be happy.

We decided to stay overnight at the Mercure White Hart in Salisbury at very short notice and just before the coronavirus lockdown. Despite running with a skeleton crew and with very few guests, the hotel staff made us feel very welcome and tried their very best to operate as if it were business as usual.

Had to change room 4 times due to serious infestation of moths in every room! The first room I killed 10 months , the next 6 and so the saga went on! I’ve stayed at the hotel now for 6 months and it’s getting worse with these horrid things in all the rooms . It maybe an old hotel but it should not be happening. Clearly action is required both internally and externally to address the issue . Lots of greenery hangs all over the outside of the hotel, perhaps that could be where these moths are coming from ? I couldn’t relax or sleep all week on a 3 night stay .

Rooms were very well equipped and of a good size with comfy bed. Only a couple of small issues: one room had very dim lighting and the other had a leaking bathroom (but as soon as another room because available this room was swapped). Very good price for the location.

Nice room 230. On a previous stay I had the Chcken Caesar Salad and it was really good. This time it was very disappointing, the bacon looked like leftovers from breakfast, massive fatty pieces that looked anaemic, microwaved? Left a lot as was quite awful. Other nights had the Sea Bream that was nice but a little over cooked, the roast chicken with leek and bacon was the best meal I ate there. Room was really nice, remote worked and toilet didn’t leak!

We were very impressed with the competence and friendliness of the staff. We arrived very late, and were treated kindly despite the late hour. The breakfast and cream tea were marvelous. We were quite happy with the location, which put us in easy strolling distance to the cathedral as well as the town center. The bathroom was clean, if a bit outdated, as was the room. That would be the only possible area of improvement - a bit of an update is in order. The bed was comfy, however, so that was a plus. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Put in a lift ! The hotel was full of elderly folk on Mar 1 so where were the porters? Glad I had my son to take my case to the room on the second floor. The beef I ordered in the evening would have been better used to sole my shoes and the small bowl of bean based meal presented to my son looked like a child's portion made us laugh -- luckily for him my husband and wife friends had their order wrong so the piled their surplus on to his plate !

As a Grade II listed building we have been unable to install a lift facility, however we are continually making the application that needs to be approved by the relevant Heritage Departments. I was concerned that no service or assistance was offered with your luggage and have stressed this with the team. I wish to apologise that the restaurant service was not to the levels expected, as we had increased volume than that we normally cater for. That said there is no excuse for the food quality and I will discuss this with the Head Chef to prevent future occurrence. We love your staff but they did not have enough help. We would appreciate a new menu as I could not eat the blade beef as it was too tough and my friend also had difficulties with the menu choice as so many choices were unavailable. Please do not use the agoda website.Thank you.

We were please to have been upgraded to Executive suite from classic. However we had to ask separately for a non- slip shower mat, which we though would have been in as a matter of course. As there was a well attended function going on in the City, we expected that two, not one, person would have been on reception and so a queue developed.
